So Long, Heather

By David Kurtz

One of TPM's faves, Rep. Heather Wilson (R-NM), went down last night. She was Sen. Pete Domenici's hand-picked successor in New Mexico, but she lost in the GOP primary to Rep. Steve Pearce.

Wilson earned her TPMmuckraker bona fides with the phone calls she and Domenici made to then-U.S. Attorney David Iglesias to pressure him to bring corruption indictments against state Democrats in the run-up to the 2006 mid-term elections. Soon after his refusal to comply, Iglesias was canned by the White House.

In other down-ballot action, Sen. Frank Lautenberg pummeled Rep. Rob Andrews in the Democratic primary in New Jersey.
