Asked whether Hoekstra believes the Bush Administration should have tried shoe bomber Richard Reid in federal court — where he was convicted in 2003 — Ware says he doesn’t believe Hoekstra has looked back at the issue in detail.“The issue here isn’t to look at these things piecemeal,” Ware says. “It’s to figure out, how do you address situations where people like Abdulmutallab and Reid that are taken into custody after failed attacks on American soil.”
