Markos has just published an explosive post on DailyKos.com’s former pollster Research 2000. Markos had dropped R2K a few weeks ago citing their poor track record. But now he’s released a report he says shows that all at least a substantial portion of the polling R2K did for the site was fraudulent.
To say that this is a bombshell in the polling and politics geek world is no overstatement. And remember, R2K didn’t start out as Kos’s pollster. They’ve been around for some time and had developed a pretty solid reputation.
For TPM this is obviously both a news story but it also affects our role as a poll aggregator through TPM Polltracker. Kos has asked all poll aggregators to purge R2K’s data from their databases. We are as we speak reviewing the report and will let you know our decision this afternoon about what we will do with the R2K data in Polltracker.
