Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham first won election to Congress in 1990 promising to be "a congressman we can be proud of". In the summer of 2005, he became enmeshed in wide-ranging bribery scandal. And on November 28th, 2005 pled guilty to charges of bribery and tax evasion. On February 17th, 2006, federal prosecutors submitted a 35 page "government's sentencing memorandum" detailing Cunningham's various bad acts in support of the government's request that he be sentenced to 10 years in prison.
