I have not as of yet climbed aboard the Obama bandwagon, and while I distrust Hillary, I'm prepared to vote for her if necessary.

I'm really looking forward to Bill speaking out more and calling out the media on their profound antipathy towards the Clintons. Should Hillary become president, we/they need to inoculate the press against another Whitewater-style bamboozlement.

I am not trying to comment on how the NY Times treated Hillary, but to claim that Obama was anything but against the war at the beginning is simply not true.

I'm afraid Bill doesn't have a point. The issue about whether Hillary should apologize for her vote isn't an artifical construct of the NY Times. It's an issue that New Yorkers like me, as her constituents, think is important. It's a real issue. She and Bill might not like it, but that doesn't mean it's made up.

Good news for those of us cheering on the dogfight between Hillary and Barack. Once they sink each other's chances between the New 'Super Tuesday' and convention time, Al Gore will become the nominee.

I do not know the content of Bill clinton's rematks last time, but I have thought for a while that vis a vis other candidates in both parties that the scrutiny Hillary (and Bill) Clinton have been given in the NY Times has not been equitable.

When the Times's reporter Pat Healy wrote about their personal life, ie their sex life I noted on the Empire Zone, his blog at the Times that I was looking forward to the Times's article on Rudy Guiliani and his personal sex lives and his (undisputed) serial adulteries. It was initially not posted until I wrote another one to complain.

The last article on her opinions on the Iraq War's potential conclusions did not use the term REDEPLOYMENT in the article which is what she was talking about in the actual transcript. That word would have made clear that her stance was substantially like the stance of every other Democratic anti war politician or presidential candidate ...from Murtha to Obama. The article therby at some level sensationalized her opinion when it did not differ from the rest of the field.

You can usually count on the Big Dog to have his facts straight, but those two alleged statements by Obama sound rather strange.

If only there were some actual Hillary fans in the blogosphere, maybe we'd some backup for these claims. :)

Hillary claims that there is a "vast right wing conspiracy" and now Bill jumps on board to make sure we know the NY Times are a key element of the Anti-Hillary campaign. When are the Clintons going to grasp the fact that most Americans (left leaning like myself, centrist, or right-leaning) simply don't want anything to do with Hillary. It would be amusing if it were not so pathetic. Hillary is either unable or unwilling to understand the truth: most Americans find her to be untrustworthy, in-authentic, and not electable.

First is it surprising that Bill Clinton, especially in a private setting, supports his wife? If he didn't wouldn't that be the story? Second, the Times rarely gives the Clintons good coverage. It was also the Paper of Record that largely made up the Whitewater Scandal and helped keep it going.

Who the heck cares if she voted for the war resolution or not? Most senators did republican and democrat. The evidence and the media made it look like if they voted against the war they were being unpatriotic. That was then and this is now. Hillary stated earlier this week she would keep a small amount of troops in Iraq anyway if she became president. That is more of an issue to me than her vote 5 years ago. If the US can help the Iraqi's to reach a political agreement then we may need to keep troops there, who knows at this point? Her stupid reply to the question about homosexuality being immoral (let's leave that up to others)is more of an issue to me. Unless she supports all american's civil liberties she does not deserve to be president. Derek, you seemed to have completely missed Swift2's message. His point is that you should vote based on the policies of the candidates, not what you feel in your gut is right based on appearances (ie the media campaign against Gore in 1999 and 2000). It seems truthiness has as big an impact on the left as it does on the right.

The media has screwed up the coverage of the election from day 1. They began covering it so early that candidates are already campaigning a full year before the New Hampshire primary. They are only giving coverage certain candidates while ingoing other candidates, many of whom are legitimate, such as Evan Bayh, Bill Richardson etc. However the worst thing they have done is given Freshman Obama nothing but positive coverage. I'd vote for Hillary if she were the Democratic candidate BUT I'd rather see a less divisive person running. I believe both Clintons are very smart people but I'm not sure they have the kind of strong moral foundations we need in our next president. I'd like to put Obama away to age for eight years, see if he's really fine wine.

Rather than acting to gain their support it looks like the moderates who currently pollute the Democratic Party are going to fall back on the same canard they used last time. I really think this gets at the crux of the Clintons. The only other time I can really recall Bill Clinton showing any passion since he left office was when Chris Wallace went after his record in that Fox interview. With all the crap going on in the world, and with all criminality, immorality, and flat-out war-mongering of this administration, it appears that the only thing that really gets under Bill Clinton's skin is a perceived slight against him or his wife. Enough with the Clintons already. Can we please put them behind us?

It's early yet, and don't underestimate the Clintons' political savvy. The Republicians didn't call him "the terminator" for nothing.

As far as I'm concerned she shouldn't get the nomination for the same reason Bush shouldn't have been re-elected. Nearly half of the country hates her. It doesn't matter whether she would do thing you happen to like or not if nearly half of the country detests having her as President. It will only be bad for the country. I'm really about as partisan as they come, but I realize that the thing that matters most is electing someone who can move the country ahead. Hillary really doesn't have much of a chance to do that. I agree with Bill Clinton on the reporting from the Times. But I think it's a problem that goes beyond just his wife. Many of the reporters who cover the candidates will stoop to the lowest levels to be critical of Democrats. While seeming to give Republicans a pass. It is a tactic that has damaged Democrats for decades now. There a few people sounding the alarm about these shenanigans but these pro Republican reporters keep up the same old tricks.

I think that maybe the Times is not putting in as much negative "oppostion research" info as the Clinton campaign is trying to put on Barack. They keep firing blanks and Bill is just a little upset. They should stick to the issues that the people care about. But, that would be too much like right and beyond their capacity.

Moreover, I agree with the above commenter(s) who questions why it's The Times fault that Hillary stubbornly refuses to admit her Iraq vote was a mistake. While our Paper of Record can be faulted for many things, noting this is not one of them. Edwards, in contrast, has not only said he was wrong to vote for it, he's pledged to removed ALL permanent U.S. bases from Iraq after bringing our soldiers home. Hillary's refusal to admit her mistake is ANOTHER mistake and taken together speak volumes about her character. While our troops (and Iraqis) die every day, she's still playing politics with this war. What should that tell us? That if she is elected, there's no reason to believe she will not do the same from the White House.

Bill Clinton is a smart man and knows politics and the media as well as anyone. It's not so different than a star basketball player who argues a call that was right but didn't go in his favor: he plays upon his star status to get a better call from the refs the next time around.

If you read The Times every day, you'd see that Obama is hardly getting a free ride in contrast to Hillary. (Which is not to say that some in the MSM, like Chris Matthews, target her unfairly.)
