TPM Presents a Collection of John McCain's Worst Attacks...

By Lila Shapiro
When did John McCain's campaign take on the vibe of a late night cable infomercial advertising flimflam fascism for 5 easy payments of $19.99? We're not talking about Donald Trump or Vince McMahon here-- this is a man believed so honorable that his legion of media supporters would rather believe he was senile than running the dirtiest campaign of our lifetimes.
As of October 3rd, the McCain Campaign shifted virtually 100 percent of their advertising money to negative ads. And a few days later began the push to connect Obama to Bill Ayers. And I think we can expect it to get a lot worse. Collected here are the worst moments-- the sleaziest, most desperate attacks from surrogates, advertisements, and the team of mavericks, themselves. We'll be updating this page regularly.
Welcome.

McCain: If I Bring Up Ayers At Debate, It Will Be Obama's Fault"Oh, yeah. Y'know, I was astonished to hear him say that he was surprised for me to have the guts to do that, because the fact is that the question didn't come up in that fashion. So, y'know, and I think he's probably ensured that it will come up this time. And, look Mark, it's not that I give a damn about some old washed-up terrorist..." |

Obama "Bizarrely In Sync With Moscow"From camp McCain: "Today, many are dead and Georgia is in crisis, yet the Obama campaign has offered nothing more than cheap and petty political attacks that are echoed only by the Kremlin. The reaction of the Obama campaign to this crisis, so at odds with our democratic allies and yet so bizarrely in sync with Moscow, doesn't merely raise questions about Senator Obama's judgment--it answers them." |
