Abramoff's Father and Uncle Under the Microscope
Jack also held a note on parking lots used by the Atlantis Hotel Casino, which went bankrupt in Atlantic City in 1989. Another 1979 article reports on an Atlantic City police dept. investigation of Det. Edward Rush, who admitted that he had "introduced Angelo Pucci to a local realtor."

The last paragraph above should begin: "Frank also held a note", not "Jack".

Judge: Atlantis' creditors must be told first

A federal bankruptcy judge in Camden, N.J., issued a temporary restraining order yesterday blocking Donald Trump's
$63-million agreement to buy the Atlantis Casino Hotel in Atlantic City until all of the hotel owner's creditors are
notified of the pending deal.
After a brief hearing, U.S. District Court Judge Rosemary Gambardella granted the request by three creditors, who hold
mortgages on several parking lots purchased in 1983 by Elsinore Shore Associates, owner of the Atlantis. Elsinore emerged
from bankruptcy proceedings last fall and has some 4,000 creditors.
The three secured creditors - Fabi Partnership and Michael Marshall, both of Atlantic City, and Frank Abramoff of Beverly Hills, Calif. - claim they are owed $6.5 million, said Edward DiDonato, a Philadelphia attorney representing them...."

"Atlantic City Inquiry Cites Officer's Role
(UPI) An Atlantic City police detective who had access to organized-crime files met and helped an associate of a reputed Canadian organized-crime figure buy resort land, according to the Atlantic County prosecutor's office. No indictments were handed up following the six month investigation, beause no actual crime was uncovered, said Prosecutor Richard Williams.
The investigation, which began over allegations that three Atlantic City police officers were unlawfully working at the Resorts International Hotel Casino, revealed that Detective Edward Rush, one of the officers, "became familiar with Angelo Pucci, an associate of Paul Volpe of Toronto, Canada," while working for the department's intelligence bureau.
Mr. Volpe was labeled a "major Mafia link" by a United States Senate committee in 1963. Mr. Williams said detective Rush had "introduced Angelo Pucci to a local realtor for the purpose of assisting Pucci in the acquisition of real estate in Atlantic County".
A police spokesman said all three officers had been reassigned pending a decision on disciplinary action."
More on mobster Paul Volpe's murder........
Paper: Toronto Star, The (Ontario, Canada)
The documentation concerning the Abramoff brothers 1979 "Price's Pit", landfill "purchase", as well as the circumstances of the CBC documentary that provides a trove of evidence that Angelo Pucci was acting as Mafia underboss Paul Volpe's "partner" in the purchase of numerous Atlantic City properties, described in a 1979 NY Times article as brokered mostly by Bernard S. Abramoff of Jerome Realty, raises more new questions than it answers.Title: "Montreal mob boss had Volpe killed, informant says
Date: September 18, 1986
Toronto mobster Paul Volpe was gunned down in 1983 on the direct orders of Montreal mob boss Vincent (Vic) Cotroni, says a former Toronto mob enforcer in his autobiography.
Cecil Kirby, the former enforcer who turned informant, and whose testimony helped jail three members of the powerful Commisso family, says Volpe had become "an embarrassment" to the crime establishment.
And Kirby says he himself was once asked to kill Volpe, but refused.
Volpe's body was found in the trunk of his wife's car in the parking lot at Pearson International Airport on Nov. 14, 1983. He had been shot to death, and the murder has never been solved.
Kirby is the former Satan's Choice leader president of a "chapter" who became an enforcer, arsonist and bomber for organized crime figures in Toronto in the 1970s.
Arviv arrest
He later went to the police with information on many of them. His testimony was mainly responsible for putting many of them in jail, including three brothers - Cosimo, Michele and Remo Commisso - reputed to be the leaders of the mob in Ontario.
All three Commissos were convicted of counselling murder in 1981 after Kirby testified they tried to hire him to kill Volpe and two others.
Information from Kirby led to the arrest of Harold Arviv - sentenced last week for the bombing of Arviv's Disco on Bloor St. and now charged with two counts of uttering a forged document and one of forgery in a $25 million tax scheme.
Kirby's information also led to the arrest of Charles Yanover, convicted of trying to overthrow the government ot Dominica.
Kirby now lives in permanent hiding, with immunity from prosecution for crimes he committed, including the killing of a cook who died when Kirby bombed a Chinatown restaurant. Kirby says the killing was accidental.
'Making millions'
His memoirs, entitled Mafia Assassin, are due to be published later this month.
"I had good information from a source of mine that Vincent Cotroni had ordered the hit (on Volpe) after sending his brother, Frank, to Toronto to meet a lot of Volpe's friends and enemies," Kirby says in the book.
Volpe, a rival of the Cotronis and Commissos, was "embarrassing to the Calabrian Mafia," Kirby says.
"Here he'd been set up for a hit in 1981, and two years later he was still walking around, telling people what to do, running gambling in Toronto, making millions in real estate. . .
"It's probably true that he was living in fear behind the floodlights of his home (in King City).
'Trusted friend'
"But he was still in business, still a boss, and this was embarrassing."
Kirby also claims that Volpe was lured to his death by a "trusted friend" who had made a deal with Volpe's killers.
And with Volpe's death, he says, "the Commisso crime group became one of the most powerful Calabrian groups in Canada and the United States.
But Vic Cotroni was himself dead of cancer just a year after Volpe's murder.
Kirby says he's bitter over the way he says justice authorities used him and stopped protecting him once his usefulness in court was finished...."
It seems all the more curious compared to the descriptions of Abramoff's father that news "reporters" have provide until now.

To "host": as a courtesy (and encouragement) to readers, pleae use both the "intro" and "body" panels when making a long post. The "body" part is not visible initially, and can be referred to in the"intro" as "below the fold", presumably a term of art in newspaper journalism.

An interesting addition from a May 1, 2005 WaPo article that
supports Jack Abramoff's business ties to his father, Frank in
Atlantic City:
"Untangling a Lobbyist's Stake in a Casino Fleet
With Millions of Dollars Unaccounted for, Another Federal
Investigation Targets Abramoff
By Susan Schmidt and James V. Grimaldi
Washington Post Staff Writers
Sunday, May 1, 2005; A01
......"Abramoff provided Foothill Capital a financial statement
stating his net worth as $13 million. He valued his lobbying practice at $7.5 million and family business interests at nearly $3 million, including a $1.4 million investment with HIS FATHER in a company that owns parking lots in Atlantic City. The lobbyist also sent Foothill Capital a list of loan references that included Rudy and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.)."
Canada's Italian daily newspaper, Tandem News published this:
"Paul Volpe, the boss that the Commisso brothers wanted to kill, ended his run in the trunk of his Mercedes parked at Pearson Airport in Toronto, with two shots to the head. The son of a tailor, married to a model, Volpe, who was born in Puglia, had begun to move in the underworld with some authoritativeness.
He had surrounded himself with Russians and Jews and had started to act like a boss. He proposed some business to La Cosa Nostra bosses, until he went too far, invading the area of some big shot.
He invested money in the Caribbean, he made powerful friends, but all this didn't help to save his skin. One of the men he had disturbed most was John Papalia."
The following article establishes that the Frank and Bernard Abramoff owned, AGA Partners that purchased the obviously toxic "Price's Pit" landfill in 1979, was still active in 1996, and was represented by Bernard's son (Jack's cousin) attorney Steve Abramoff:
"EHT SUES FOR COMPLETION OF SUBDIVISION
Press of Atlantic City, The (NJ)
October 20, 1996
Author: T. KEUNG HUI Staff Writer
The municipality has filed a lawsuit against a bonding company and the developers who did not complete the Sherwood Forest subdivision........
........The suit says AGA Partnership received approval from the Planning Board on June 19, 1989, to perform the subdivision, which included 51 residential lots, and the necessary site-plan improvements. First Indemnity of America Insurance Company, based in Parsippany, issued a bond guaranteeing the work.
But the suit says the developers did not fulfill the agreement. The suit says FIA was notified of the situation but refused to provide any relief.
"Why hasn't he finished the job?" asked Mayor James "Sonny" McCullough. "Why has he left the residents holding the bag?"
Randall Scheule, the township's director of planning and development, says the township engineer has estimated it would cost $163,464.20 to complete the project. Among the things that need to be done are replacement of curbing, installation of sidewalks and complete paving of portions of roadway, he said."
So now we have a report from an MSM source, The WaPo, that Jack Abramoff was claiming at least one million dollar investments with his father Frank in Atlantic City casino parking lot properties, that Bernard Abramoff's realty client was partners with a mob boss reported to have surrounded himself with "Russians and Jews", and that the AGA partners who made the suspicious purchase of an obvious toxic superfund cleanup site,
was still in business 17 years later, with Jack's uncle Bernard as it's spokesman, and Jack's cousin Steve, as it's attorney....
