Cool new TPM -- but a bit weak on the instructions
As a Libertarian Paternalist pro-Bush policy guy, having a TPM blog isn't where I'll spend much time writing. Even though I *do* want to talk, politely, with folk who disagree.
I don't think one needs to have a potty-mouth to disagree passionately.
I think the email message to update the password on the new system could be improved:
The message I got was like this:
"You may now log in to www.tpmcafe.com clicking on this link or copying and pasting it in your browser:
http://www.tpmcafe.com/user/reset/..."
So I clicked on the top tpmcafe.com link, but was faced with a login screen, without knowing the new password. Went back to message and clicked on that link and it worked; have changed my password.
Thanks.
Better words:
"You're ready for new one-time password to be logged on: click on this link: http://www.tpmcafe.com/user/reset/... and it will log you in (or copy the link and paste it into your browser). After this you'll be sent to edit your profile and change your password.
From then on, you'll be able to log in to the new www.tpmcafe.com using your userid and your newly entered password."
I'd also like email messages to me to include my username -- some systems have the username as the email address, others don't. System email messages should include the username associated with that email address. (I don't happen to have a second TPM account, but I do have other email addresses.)

A question and a comment...
First the question: What is a Libertarian Paternalist? If Libertarianism is about promoting individual freedom of action through a minimal government, then how does benevolent dictatorship or paternalism fit into the picture? And who gets to play daddy? :)
And the comment: I hope you stick around, though you would definitely be swimming against the ideological current. I come here not just to reinforce my biases, but also to broaden my views.

Just wanted to second Mister Foo’s hopeful comment — I, too, want to talk, politely, with folk who disagree.
