Earthquake relief

Next week, the Bush Administration is said to be set to announce the sale of 80 F-16s to Pakistan.

This week, the Swedish company Saab announced that it has a billion dollar deal with Pakistan to supply it with a airborne surveillance system.

No doubt these advanced systems will provide warmth and comfort to the people stranded in the snow-bound hills this winter.

Just in case the soldiers freeze their toes, the military is carefully putting tents provided for relief into storage, according to Human Rights Watch.

Arun - Musharraf's reconstruction request followed by the immediate need for shlelter is either lousy BBC reporting or illogic by Musharraf.  I would expect him to be separating the immediate shelter and food needs from the reconstruction money which as you say cannot be used for a few months.

Is the Pakistani government treating the citizens of the Pakistani controlled Kashmir the same as they would citizens in Pakistan proper?

Nice to know that nations are still using major weapons systems to fight terrorism which is rarely vulnerable to major weapons systems! The terrorists' asymmetric warfare establishes its own "battlefield" where it can win and avoids fighting on the battlefield of major weapons where these nations can easily defeat terrorists. Talk about illogic.
