kidnapped archaeologist Susanne Osthoff

In case you're not familiar with Ms. Osthoff, there's a good article at Archaeology Magazine's web site:

http://www.archaeology.org/online/features/osthoff/.

One petition is by the British Archaeological Jobs Resource:
http://www.petitiononline.com/bajr2000/petition.html.

The other is by SAFE - Saving Antiquities For Everyone:
http://www.savingantiquities.org.

For continuous updates on the situation, see The Iraq War & Archaeology site:
http://iwa.univie.ac.at.

Thank you.

P.S.: I tried to use the html mark-up buttons but they didn't work... and the normal <a href="..."> ... </a> method of hyperlinking doesn't seem to work here.  Sorry.

There is now a third petition by the German aid organization action medeor: http://www.medeor.org/aktion/index.htm.
(don't worry if you don't know German: click the "Bitte unterschreiben auch Sie diesen Appell!" link, then fill out the spaces as follows: • "Anrede/Titel" = Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., Prof., ...; • "Vorname" = first name; • "Nachname" = family/last name; • "Straße" = address; • "PLZ/Ort" = ZIP/postal code and city; • "Land" = country; you actually only have to fill out your first and last name if you don't feel like sharing too much information; finally, click the "abschicken" link)
