Follow-up: Capitalism - 1 : petro-Socialism - 0
Following up on my previous post, I did a little research and found the few Democrats sought to protect us (well, at least our port workers) from the threat of "foreign-government owned" corporations. It turns out that identical companion bills (H.R.4842.IH and S.2334.IS), both titled "Port Security Act of 2006," were introduced in the House and Senate. Both declared that the "President shall prohibit any merger, acquisition, or takeover described in subsection...that will result in any entity that is owned or controlled by a foreign government leasing, operating, managing, or owning real property or facilities at a United States port." Of course, I would prefer to strike "at a United States port" and replace it with "in the United States," but that's just me. I want to protect all American workers from the threat of imported Socialism.
Anyhow, it's a start. Here are the sponsors in the Senate: Mr. MENENDEZ (for himself, Mrs. CLINTON, Mr. LAUTENBERG, Mr. NELSON of Florida, and Mrs. BOXER). Here are the sponsors in the House: Ms. WASSERMAN SCHULTZ (for herself, Mr. POE, Mr. CLYBURN, Mr. PALLONE, Mr. NADLER, and Mr. MCNULTY).
Thanks to them! Maybe someday the Democrats will think a little bigger on this issue instead of offering up a token response by a group of Senators and Congressmen and Congresswomen who just happen to represent major port facilities. But, you can be sure of one thing, they probably won't do so unless we make them. If you are represented by a Democrat in the House or Senate, please take time to raise this point with him or her. It's not a small issue.

you might want to spend more time with your loved ones. there is no such thing as protection. i helped vote gwb into office his first run. because he was a fu..up. in my opinion there is to much formal education in our government. i hoped he would season it with his ignorance. but i was wrong he rolled over when came into the presents of the formal education. dan234
