Conservatives Eating Their Own

The problem with the Conservative Agenda is that it's simply inapplicable. It sounds good on paper (at least to some) but when time comes to follow through on it, it completely falls apart.

The usual suspects of conservative punditry are eating their own. They're dumping on Bush at the moment, saying he's not a "true conservative". I want to know why just dump on him?

The Republicans control both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue - not to mention a good part of the jucidiary. They control everything. If they can't implement their own agenda in circumstances like these when can they?

The truth is simple: the Conservative Agenda is antithetical to Democratic society. People want Social Security, Medicare and Public Education. People want these things not because they're driven by ideology necessarily but because they're inherently practical in supporting what they know works.

The only way the Conservative Agenda will ever be implemented in this society is not through a change of party -- been there, done that -- but through a change in the very nature of our government -- a la Chile in the 1970's.

And that's not going to happen. Rather the consensus is building to kick these incompetent scoundrels out and put in people who know and believe in what they're doing. And that's what's got them running.

Because in a democratic society we let the parasites vote.

You have it all backwards. It's not the "Conservative Agenda" that is antithetical to democratic society, rather it's socialism that is the antithesis of democracy, and hence antithetical to it. The whole concept of a portion voting away property to have it relocated runs counter to the very grain of self determination for it will, unchecked, lead to the demolition of all outward insentive for an individual to be a seperate entity from the governmental complex.

The only way the Conservative Agenda will ever be implemented in this society is not through a change of party -- been there, done that --

The democrats controlled congress for almost sixty years in an almost uninterupted string. Their implimentation of socialism based programs over more than half a century left a legacy that resulted in effectively turning a large portion of the republican party into de facto socialists. Simply having a Republican majority does not mean that we've had a conservative majority or any true approach to an implimentation of any substantive and meaningfull GENUINE conservative agenda. At best many republicans have simply maintained the status quo implimented by 60 years of socialist strivings by an almost purely democratic lead congress, at worst some have thought that they can douse the flames of socialist decay with more socialist fuel.

If there's any argument for a party and ideology having had it's time to prove itself and fail it would be the socialist leaning democratic party and it's efforts to impliment many of the edicts of communist manifesto via democratic destroying bribery that goes by the names of "socialism" "entitlements" "welfare" "subsidy" and the such.

but through a change in the very nature of our government -- a la Chile in the 1970's.

There may come a time in which some degree of force will need to be applied, but it will not be to the effect of changing the original nature of our government as framed by the Founding Fathers, rather restoring such through the purging of the legal plunder and identity smoothering evils of socialism.

Socialism? What's that? Never heard of it.

Pragmatism is the ideology of this country if you haven't noticed. People vote for what works.

Evils of socialism?

Seems to me, those societies like Britian, that are much more 'soclialistic' than anything we have here, have elections, have a very active parliment and assure that folks get a say in their government, all, while having a true understanding that working for the good of all, is a patriotic thing to do.

You want to go it alone, great. Let's get rid of the military, the criminal justice system, the prisons, the social safety nets, the public schools - slap on our six shooter and become rugged individualists who don't need no stinkin' government. That's about how silly the conservative agenda really is, if you listen to the 'hate government' and 'hate taxes' crowd. It is also an 'American' myth, that is the antithesis of 'united we stand'. Sorry, that individualistic crap is really antithetical to 'working together' and to 'of the people, by the people and for the people'.

The conservative agenda has now, over the past 5 years, demonstrated not to  be at all interested in competent government. It is much more interested in assuring the patrons of the politicians are rewarded for their massive donations of cash, to fuel the ineptness. Hence, pro-business tax breaks and regulation shifts. A gradual defunding of programs that actually help those left behind economically. And, a not so subtle attack on our environment, all the while, pandering to the homophobic, evangelical minority of this nation. And according to the polls, the American public is pretty much indicating the conservative aganda that has been shove down their throats is a phony as a $3 dollar bill.d

Beware of the fanatics, they never see gray.
