Native to Kenya and not Somalia
The majority of Kenyan population is Christian. A majority of the
Somalia population is Sunni Muslim. So it should not be surprising that
the garb is Muslim.

He was born in the United States, so his "native country" is the United States.

I am not suggesting he is a native of Kenya. He does have ties to Kenya and it is a key point he himself makes every time he gets to discuss foreign policy credentials.

His Kenyan relatives are Muslim whether you like it or not. He is a Christian, whatever his Kenyan relatives and Indonesian step-father are. His sister seems to be somewhat Buddhist from what I remember.
I can be from a Catholic family from Tennessee, and that doesn't mean they automatically become Southern Baptists instead. And I can leave the Catholic religion and become a Hassidic Jew, and that doesn't mean I'm still a Catholic. Ask Madonna or Bob Dylan if you have any questions. These are well-trodden paths.
