Why is there a large gender difference in who shows to vote?

on another thread it was suggested that 58.5% of dem primary voters so far have been women. why?
1. old people vote more. old men are more likely to be dead?
2. women take voting more seriously?
3. dames are more likely to be dems?
4. women are more excited about current candidates?

Just to see whether I'm able to comment, I'll answer ---
Convenience. More women than men are employed in the home and the very local community.

Males apparently can't remember wedding anniversaries or the birthdays of spouses or children. It seems to me that a voting date would be even less important.
