I would really be surprised if this is true. Thousands of black people have sat under the same type lectures from our preachers. Those of us that think for ourselves, totally ignore such words. Those who don't are just as sad as some of the preachers.

When we grow up we make our own decisions based on what we beleive and what we feel the bible teaches. Every true African American knows this and do not agree with their pastors. No, we dont just get up and leave, it is a part of our community, if we left, then we would only end up in another church will equal or worst. Sometimes my husband and I discuss what our pastor says and laugh.

We not only attend church for the pastor there are thousand of other things that hold our interst and keep us there, like getting to know those in the church, friends in the church, certain ministries that we love being a part of, etc. We teach our children at home not to hate, many times the children are in children's church and never hear the pastor preach. Sunday school and children church leaders rarely teach children the things adults are exposed to and thank God for that!

I commend Obama for not leaving his church. He should be more inspired to change each and every member's view of the world as it is today, even the pastor could learn a lesson in the process. Just as I have to teach my mom and father in law, not to fear or blame white people for everything because things have changed and there are many opportunities to blacks, some of us just choose to grumble and not take advantage of the opportunity, then cry the "white man," it is at those times that I find an opportunity to discuss exactly what the white man has done or is doing to the person complaining. Most of the time, I get them to see that it is not the white man, it is their inability to succeed because they are stuck in the slave mentality.

Your audience here is not into irony, satire or other forms of humor. They are very serious. Some might even say their seriousness is strained. I think they have a lot of anger right now about the upcoming Pennsylvania primary and some other things.
