Calling All Former Clinton Supporters Cont'
Yesterday we started a really intense and cathartic discussion among those of us who originally supported Hillary Clinton, but now find her "scorched earth candidacy" so repulsive that we are struggling with the idea of voting for her should she become the nominee.
So far there are 71 responses who shared their sad path from Hillary. Unfortunately it got pushed off the front page and several people who wanted to continue the exchange, including myself, had trouble finding it.
So I thought I would reintroduce it so it could again briefly stay on the first page and explain how I found it. You can find all of you comments on the "Your Profile" page. For newbies like me, it is located at the top of the page on the right side, underneath the search box.
To read my post about how I went from Clinton supporter to someone who is opposed to her and how 71 others got to that point, as well as share your own experience go to the following link.

To Merlin14...I didn't get back to the thread since it's so hard to find but with TDE linking it here, I'll catch up with your last response.
He states that he decided to run for President this year because he felt an extreme urgency to do so...
Because he's a hot commodity right now? As they might say in Hollywood, "You're box office Baby. Go for it!"
He doesn't know his way around DC yet since he got there and just a year later started running for president. He doesn't know all those wierd agency acronymns yet and how they integrate with the governing infrastructure. The guy is in hopelessly over his head but doesn't have a clue about it.
But hey...women/girls faint at his speeches.
Cheezuz...

Greetings All, first let me tell you a little about myself and my perspective on this political race. I am a black male in my early thirties and I am an officer in the the US Navy. I have always considered myself an Independent and I never rarely cared about politics nor decided to ever register to vote for any kind of election until 2004 when I was upset at what I saw was happening with the direction of this country. Anyway 2 years ago I had the feeling that HRC might be a good president and I decided I would support her if she decided to run.
However in my travels in the Navy I run through alot of circles, in which I have heard so many people express their digust with Hillary in how vile she was which shocked me. About 2 years ago upon sitting at a dinner table with about 25 of my fellow Navy sailors in Pensacola Florida, out of no where a discussion took place in which all 25 people had went on a tirade about how much they disliked HRC. I sat at the table both shocked and silent as I have never witnessed a group of people so strongly voice their dislike/hatred for someone. However even after that event along with strong discussions with a former girlfriend of mine whom told me she would never vote for HRC because she was weak in supporting Bill in his infidelity, I still stood strong and unwavering for my support of HRC.
Howvever this all changed with the Billary (Bill+Hillary) tactics that showed their ugly head starting in South Carolina. The statements by Bill Clinton really turned me off and away from supporting HRC forever. HRC lost my support, and made me wonder if she could not control Bill now, then she would have even a harder time when she was President. One thing that especially turned me off about politics in general is all of the negative mud slinging of diminishing one's opponent to make themselves look better and never campaigning solely on the issues. Only after S.C. did I honestly take a seriously look at Obama as I was already considering supporting Mitt Romney at the time or Guiliani as I liked their performances in the debates. I admired the way that Obama carried himself in not using the usual political tactics and I began to investigate his view points on issues. Being a level-headed, independent minded individual, I thought Obama's speeches were good but not enough to get my vote. However after researching about his stand-point on the Iraq War, the Economy, his childhood and how he was raised by a single-mother and not into some powerful connected family, I began to seriously consider him. What really made up my mind for supporting him was with the story I heard about him graduating from college and going to work as a community organizer only to find out that he could not implement the changes he wanted to see in the community which then made him decide to goto Harvard. Upon graduating from Harvard when all of his classmates were running off to fortune-500 high-paying corporate jobs which he had the same opportunity to take, he decided to return to the community he left to continue to fight for the changes he wanted to see. This demonstration of someone who showed determination and committment to overlook money to help out the community sealed his vote for me. All in the end- HRC's current tactics is leaving an even worst taste in my mouth and in alot of other people I know who are Independents or African Americans. This is exactly the polarizing effect that many people have been saying that HRC has and is why she will face a very hard time in becoming the POTUS. I now understand about HRC's polarized effect and her negative polarity has forever repelled me from supporting her. I think Hillary's behavior will have turned off more people than Obama will have turned away in which she has had her own hand in doing.

I see you got the training and have given us your "How I came to Barack" moment. Thanks for nothing.
