Details are sketchy and they're just breaking. I want to comment though on the coverage its already getting. The talking heads on cable news (Im watching MSNBC) are already writing his political obituary. Now, obviously, it depends on what "involved" means. As of the time i'm writing this, its still unknown. If he's pimping out hookers from the governor's mansion, he's in serious trouble. But if he just used the services of the "prostitution ring" I don't see how his situation is any different than David Vitter's. The talking heads are talking about what a straight shooter, and holier than thou ethics reformer and crime fighter Elliot Spitzer is. They even mentioned what a lovely family he has. The same things were said of David Vitter. David Vitter was a holier than thou crusader for "morals and family values" and then got caught paying for hookers. David Vitter still has his job. If Elliot Spitzer just used the services of a prostitute, i don't see why he shouldn't be able to keep his. And i don't see why he should face any tougher of a griller in the press than David Vitter got. If memory serves me right, he got basically a free pass, as is evidence of him still having his job. Is this going to be another case of iokiyar?
