I grew up in Ohio and have lived in New England for the past 25 years. For people who have a reputation for being so nice, there is plenty of ignorance and underground racism to go around. If you saw "60 Minutes" take on Ohio, you saw it plainly. The people there actually believe that ridiculous email that says Obama's a Muslim and he doesn't know the words to the National Anthem.
Makes me glad, once again, to have left that all behind. I'm embarrassed for them today.
No one is surprised that race still plays a part in this election, otherwise why race-bait? But this election gives us hope about the future because of how age and education is breaking down that barrier. See my post here: the race is still about race

The poll found that TEN PERCENT of voters claimed that 'race' played a part in their vote - and 80% of THOSE VOTERS voted for Clinton.
