Time in partnership with CNN "The Clinton Campaign's Awkward Electoral College Argument"
I just want to put this out there.
Quote by Time in Partnership with CNN:
My question is this: Just eight years after George W. Bush gained the White House by losing the popular vote and winning the Electoral College, isn't it a bit ironic that Hillary Clinton is arguing for Democrats to focus not on the popular vote but on the Electoral College?
Google has the answer. If you search for "hillary clinton electoral college," the first result is an article from November 10, 2000, "Hillary Clinton Calls For End to the Electoral College." As Clinton said at the time, "I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it's time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president."

Clinton will end up well ahead in the total popular vote. I'm sure she would agree right now to let the person who comes out ahead in the total popular vote take the nomination.

Wow. So much about this amazes me.
1) I had no idea Hillary Clinton ever said ANYTHING to support Al Gore.
2) It's great to remember that my part of NY State didn't elect her to the Senate.
3) "I hope no one is ever in doubt again about whether their vote counts." ----it's hard to believe HRC would say that today, while she's plotting to win a campaign from superdelegates.
4) Just another waffle from HRC...

The popular vote in the primaries are not straightforward. How do you count the popular vote of non-primary states? How do you take into account Texas? Just yesterday I was thinking that this was the only way Clinton had to justify her being the nominee, but the more I think about the less I agree with that. We can't change the rules midstream - but maybe the Democratic party should move to all primaries next time to easier gauge true popular vote.
