Clinton Slams Democratic Activists At Private Fundraiser
At a small closed-door fundraiser after Super Tuesday, Sen. Hillary Clinton blamed what she called the "activist base" of the Democratic Party -- and MoveOn.org in particular -- for many of her electoral defeats, saying activists had "flooded" state caucuses and "intimidated" her supporters, according to an audio recording of the event obtained by The Huffington Post."Moveon.org endorsed [Sen. Barack Obama] -- which is like a gusher of money that never seems to slow down," Clinton said to a meeting of donors. "We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and It's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."

Obama's campaign sinking a little further into the gutter here, methinks. Very suspicious timing.
But, I don't think this will hurt Hillary at all - probably help her. MoveOn is pretty reviled in some quarters, especially after that General BetrayUs ad, and furthermore I doubt many of their members were voting for Hillary in the first place.
If this makes Obama look like the MoveOn.org candidate, that'll hurt more than help in PA.

She lied about Moveon.org opposing the Afghanistan war. That's a Rove talking point.

WOW Hillary, isn't this the same activist base that you would need if by miracle you get the nomination? Once again, she throws anything and everything "under the bus" is it doesn't suit her.

You forget, Hillary needs NO ONE, she is an island onto herself. What she wants matters more than her party, her nation, life itself. SHE is Hillary... I can't want for the good people of NY to reclaim her!

Not only does the DLC hate the activist base but so do those big bullying contributors who send intimidating letters to Nancy and Howard when the party does not do their bidding. They are Hillary's true base.

This is hardly the first time she's thrown progressives under the bus - she's always thrown us there. Remember - she voted for the war? Pushed a motherfucking flag burning amendment? Voted for the bankruptcy bill?
She's always been a conservative Democrat and that's always why I didn't like her.
And now I hate her because now she's a damn Republican in everything but name.

Not to be picayune, but actually she didn't push a flag-burning amendment.
What she did was author a patently unconstitutional bill designed to subvert the intent of the First Amendment. Antonin Scalia commented on it, and found it to be too conservative for his taste.
This, btw, was the straw that broke this camel's back. Before this abomination, I was still a fan of hers. Yes, I was stupid, but in my own defense, I was much younger then.

Yeah, that awful anti-poor person bankruptcy bill that John Edwards also supported.
Did you see the debate between the three of them, where Obama said he voted against it because it set a max credit card interest rate at 30%, and he thought it should be lower. Then Edwards pipes in saying "so you voted against it, so there wouldn't be any limit at all?"
Very amusing.

And then, perhaps, she can retire behind the scenes and cry/whine on Bill's shoulder - that is, if there isn't an intern or office temp already there.

Because she isn't a democrat. She's a Clintoncrat, or a depublican at best.
Before the war she recited Bush's lies verbatim to Code Pink and others and now she still recites Bush/Rove lies.
Tell me the difference between her and Rove again besides the dried up ovaries.
I hate her. She embodies all that is wrong with politics in this nation.

"Well, for a campaign that has morphed into nothing but "Republican talking points", it shouldn't come as any surprise.
I'm curious though, what part of our foreign policy approach doesn't she agree with? The ending the war in Iraq part? I'd like more details on that one."

Don't worry - Howard Dean is on our side. She's already lost. There's just no way in hell - she can't do it mathematically and she can't do it with the superdelegates cause they aren't all as willfully vicious as she is about progressive Democrats.
And I just watched an HBO Sports Special starring Barack Obama and his basketball career. Bowlers, eat your motherfucking hearts out - he can play. Still.
And Bryant Gumble was talking to him after they staged a pickup game that they filmed, about style and how he feints right and then moves sharply left to throw off the defenders. Bryant says: "You can't move right, can you?"
Barack says: "No, I can't, but don't tell anybody else."
the Clintons are dead to me.

Yeah I saw that Real Sports interview. He did that at FT Bragg. I think the soldiers were probably a little shocked. Obama is a real person.
I'm sure if Obama bowled more often he would do better. I'd vote for a bad bowler before I'd vote for a pathological liar like Hillary.

I remember...it was a while back, when we MoveOn members were asked to vote for a candidate. The winning candidate must get more than 60% of the vote. That was a high bar to pass at that time. Well BHO made that hurdle very easily, and we have backed him whole-heartedly since then. They get 15 bucks a month from me, and I am proud to say I am a member. Hillary can have her Rupert and limpballs, and all her repub talking points...you know, the lies she tells...and march off into the sunset. I am supposedly her supporter...a 57 year-old female. HA!! FAT CHANCE!!

I thinks this proves that even Hillary knows she cannot win. There is no other logic that can explain these comments. These activists are necessary for the grassroots aspect of a presidential campaign. Alienating them would surely give the election to McCain.

Sen. Clinton makes an excellent point. No candidate would want the support of activist Democrats in the General. It chills a candidate's soul to imagine people actually getting out and working.

Guys, this isn't breaking news, really. It's interesting to see her put it so bluntly, but everyone knew there was no love between the activist base and HRC. Nor does this really damage her. The people it will p*ss off are already good and p*ssed off at her. It won't hurt her with her own supporters, or swing voters.
And it's all moot, anyway, because she's losing.

Dollar bill y'all, dollar bill y'all...
She's hurting for funds - contributions down - so let's rally the 'give me some money peeps' - cuz you know Obama is flush w/ cash - and that's SOOOOOO unfair.
So let's 'Alice in the Rabbit Hole' once again - not cuz he's winning or anything. It's all those damned partaking in democracy a'holes. Let's blame MoveOn - although his contributions have come from individual 'small money' donors - oops.
I'm not inspiring enough to raise money - IT'S EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT. He's spending and spending and spending MONEY HE RAISED from people that support him - WTF?!?
Kinda like all the votes and states and delegates and superdelegates and endorsements he's getting -and she's not. Democracy is so unfair.

Members of Moveon.org are a bunch of radical leftist hippie activists who got together for no other reason than to support the out of the mainstream notion that Bill Clinton should have completed his second term in office rather than resign in disgrace or be removed by congress.
I guess this means that Hillary supported Gingrich when he tried to have her husband thrown out of office?

Hey Tena X
Check out what the principal from the Panhandle said , (as HRC continues to amaze me at how totally toned deaf she is regarding where the majority of voters are - including disaffected independents such as myself -Obama continues to build his base support . )
Yesterday morning just before first light -on the way to the airport one of my passengers ( I operate a one van charter service in Austin , Texas ) - who is a high school prinicpal in the reddest of the red zone - Midland Texas - had this to say about GWB 43 - when I asked her about "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND " -she said it was just one more abject failure of the current administration - she then went off about iRAQ , TORTURE , ETC. Well it turns out she voted as a Democrat for the first time ever -for Obama- And she also said that she saw many ,many of her Midland school system colleagues there the same day also voting for Obama- She concluded our conversation by saying simply she cannot live without hope & Obama's candidancy gives her that hope .
So HussienTenax - its looking more & MORE like the Lone Star State could be back in play .
I am going to send senatorial candidate Noreiga another hundred bucks - I have really come to dislike Coryn - he supports GITMO an all the rest of this fascist House of Neocon Horrors ...
Finally Tena - you are so right -there can be no kissing and making up with this bunch ..including now Al fROOM & HRC .. !!
PS It looks like Obama did win the majority of the Texas delegates after all - (paging Mr Penn! )

Maybe if the Obama camp spins real hard, they can make this into an issue. It looks like all the effort put into spinning the ABC debate as unfair and "low politics" hasn't done so well. In the nation-wide Daily Gallup Poll Obama has dropped 12 points in 4 days to trail Hillary for the first time in a long time. And the last 3 Zogby polls taken over the last 3 days show Hillary increasing her lead each day in Pennsylvania. I really don't think this would be happening if Obama had showed that he can handle the heat as well as Clinton can. It's nice to talk about raising the political debate in America to "a new kind of politics", but maybe people have noticed that the GOP hasn't signed on to that one yet.
