Does John McCain's Wife Trust Him? If not, why should we?
We're now being told that John McCain's prenup shows him to be honest and ethical, not self-serving.
However, back in 2003 and 2004, John Kerry's prenup was an indication that John Kerry wasn't trustworthy.
For instance, here's an article from Slate-dot-com :
http://www.slate.com/id/2091886
DOES TERESA HEINZ KERRY TRUST JOHN KERRY?
If not, why should we?
By Timothy Noah
Posted Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003

If Teresa Heinz won't trust presidential candidate John Kerry with her money, why should American voters trust Kerry with their country?

Teresa Heinz and Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., were married in 1995.

[...] Unlike many other married couples, Heinz and Kerry kept their premarital assets separate. Much of Teresa Heinz's inheritance was no doubt tied up in trusts, but a substantial sum must have been unencumbered, because she had Sen. Kerry sign a prenuptial agreement.

"Everybody has a prenup," Heinz explained to Lisa DiPaulo, who profiled her sympathetically in Elle.
"You have to have a prenup. You've got three kids with somebody else, you've got to have a prenup. You could be as generous or as sensitive as you want. But you have to have a prenup."

John Kerry's prenup showed that he was untrustworthy.
But John McCain's prenup shows that he's ethical!
For instance, here's an article from the AP from a couple of days ago:
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h-S1sWHm0tchtdMP5LcLywg5ZtMgD8VQ86M80
BEER EXECUTIVE COULD BE NEXT FIRST LADY

[...] McCain is routinely ranked among the richest senators. But a prenuptial agreement has kept most assets in his wife's name. That arrangement served as a defense for McCain when the Senate ethics committee scrutinized a real estate deal involving his wife, her father and disgraced savings and loan owner Charles Keating Jr. McCain said at the time the separation of assets helped prove the deal didn't benefit him.

McCain himself reports little more wealth than when he started in politics. [...]

No matter what the facts are, the conclusion is the same.
The Heinz-Kerry prenup proved that Kerry was untrustworthy and less than fully masculine.
The Hensley-McCain prenup, on the other hand, shows that John McCain is the salt of the earth.

Sysprog!
A fine double-standard you've uncovered here. Thanks.

Pretty typical. I always said if Bush went windsurfing it would be the bravest, manliest, most youthful and athletic thing any politician had ever done.
And at the sight of Bush in a spandex wetsuit, Chris Matthews would be required to consult his physician after four hours....

What "trollop" would trust a man who has called her that (and worse) in public ??
Actually, "trollop" is so comically archaic as to almost garner sympathy from us young punks ... hmmm, maybe that's why McCain's outburst has not been reported until now? Bunch of punks covering the McCain beat, no?

I dunno. Not sure I buy the premise. It's common in monied families, where people are known by the term "heir/heiress to the _____ fortune" to have big impenetrable prenups. Seems kinda routine to me when you're talking about the Heinz fortune, and whoever's fortune Cindy McCain is heiress to.
