"Morning Joe" Tells Viewers "Screw You"
My moring humor was provided by Mika Brzezinski and Willie Giest. Mika was hosting Morning Joe this morning. Mika made the point that different parts of the viewing audience viewed Rev Jeremiah Wright differently, indicated White/Black and possibly age differennces in reaction.
The "Morning Joe" producer chimed in that most of the e-mail responses the show had received was positive. The snapshot sample thought that Wright's message had been a good one.
We next had analyst of Wright by two people. The first from Rev Eugene rivers III of the Azuza Church in Boston. Rivers, an African-American preacher, felt Wright should not have made any comments until after the election. Wright's comments were too fiery, according to Rivers. The second analyst was Pat Buchanan. We don't have to wonder what Mr Buchanan's sentiments regarding Wright would be.
The interesting think about Rev Rivers as an analyst is that he was a supporter of the White House's Faith Based Initiatives outreach program. He left the program after John Dilulio left.

Two glaring facts present themselves. We know Buchanan's Conservative bias. Rev Rivers is a relative unknown to most viewers. His Bush WH association should have at least been mentioned. We had two Conservatives attacking Wright. The viewers never had their viewpoint expressed in the segment.
This is as "fair and balanced" as one can get.
I am mad as h*ll. MSM is now a bad SNL skit.

Try going after the local station that ran the show. All stations keep a public file of letters from viewers that is reviewed by the FCC when their license comes up for renewal. A public file full of complaints that a station has been violating the public's trust can lead to a license challenge. Write to complain about the show, the lack of balance and opportunity for pro-Wright voices to be heard, and demand that your letter be placed in the public file. Good luck.

I've seen this Rev. Rivers on MSNBC previously and he was extremely hostile towards Obama and Rev. Wright (I believe it might have been right after Obama's speech on race). He certainly has every right to say what he wants to say, but I thought it was disappointing that MSNBC tried to paint him as some "objective" observer of religous issues.

Why they let Cracker Pat comment on the racial aspects of this campaign is beyond me. The man referred to Obama as a "political athlete" for goodness sake.

Stop watching "Morning Joe." Go cold turkey. It will be hard at first, but you can do it. You'll feel better. I know I do.

I couldn't agree with you more. I used to have Morning Joe as the soundtrack to my AM shower/work prep, but no more. I love music too much to allow my ears to be bombarded with Joe's thinly veiled GOP talking points and Mika's spinelessness-as-liberal-examplar conduct.
And while I'm on the subject, Schrodinger's Cat is correct. They had Rev. Rivers on shortly after Obama's big speech in an effort to undermine his remarks about the African American church. I thought that was ironic since, compared to Rev. Wright, Rivers is a complete unknown... Morning Joe loves to do that whole "Pat represents the Right, _______ represents the Left ("Trust us!") move. Then when Pat and the closet Republican agree and are to the right of Joe, it is proof that so and so is out of touch and Joe is just the neutral arbiter. It is gross. Keith O is the only thing on MSNBC worth watching.

The worst part was later when Mika was about to show clips of Wright's speech at the NAACP last night she said that his speech overall was positive but that the clips in isolation look different and then proceeded to show the clips that make him look like an angry Black Man.
She was basically saying these clips give a different impression out of context than they with the context; but we'll just show you the out of context version and make this more news than it actually is (and she is supposed to the liberal type on the show).

Scarborough proved himself a coward when he was punked by Rachel Maddow and ran off the set of David Gregory's show.
These Republicans, all macho talk and bluster until actual fighting begins. Typical macho chickenhawk Republican. Joe showed himself for the true punk-ass that he is, running away rather than face Rachel. Take his ass whuppin' like a man, Joe! I actually was embarrassed FOR him. Guess Joe is too used to bullying poor Mika.
I kind of like Willy and Mika, but they together are no counter weight to Scarborough's juvenile fake macho demeanor - gee, what GOP president does that sound like?

I thought Mika got a little huffy with David Axelrod this morning, when he pointed out the over abundance of airtime devoted to the Wright story.
MSNBC's biased coverage is wearing thin. I'm tuning out with the exception of Olbermann's show.
