New Clinton Endorsement Today: Me

Recently I read a TPM blog post that put the entire race in perspective and I had an "aha!" moment of enlightenment. The blog could be summarized like this:

Hillary will win. Definitely. (I'm paraphrasing)

As I drank my morning coffee it began to add up. I started to do the math over and over in my head:

Hillary + will + win = definitely.
Now let's look at that equation. We have the who (Hillary) the when (will) and the what (win) and everyone knows that when you can answer the questions to "who?", "when?" and "what?" then you get an answer that is a cold hard fact.

In the face of this irrefutable evidence, I, Yoda, hereby switch my alligience from Barack Obama to Hillary Clinton.

I urge the TPM community to embrace the new math and embrace the presumptive nominee so that we may move forward with one voice and defeat the true enemy in the Fall: Barack Obama. He is so unprepared to be President and he is so woefully unelectable, that the Clinton campaign and her mighty grassroots supporters (like me) will continue to focus our attention through the general election on the one person who we know cannot pick up the red phone ringing at 3am.  The working class white voters, who are the most important in the big swing states, will reward this focus on our opponent (Barack Obama) and will vote for Hillary Clinton in record numbers in November.

Please join the movement for super duper real change.  We're going to win. It's a fact.  Just do the math.

It's the beginning of the end for Obama.

I think it's the beginnning of the end for Hillary.

Let's say she wins the nomination, I doubt she'll win against McCain in November and then it's completely over for her.

Barack could lose in November to McCain, but we'd be looking at a sure win in 2012.

It's the end alright but no way is it the end for Obama.

Our guys just getting started.

user-pic

(Everyone who has posted on here so far, including Yoda/urbinato and myself, are Obama supporters. This is satire.)

user-pic

What!? I thought you were for real Ben. Your support for Hillary on TPM was a major reason for my change of heart. I thought you had seen the light.

Judas!

user-pic

Oh, I'm for real. I just didn't want gftb to know that.

user-pic

I knew you loved America as much as I do.

THIS IS THE MATH NOW SHUT UP

Barry + Wright + Auchi + Rezko + Ayers + Blackwell + Bittergate + Bowling = Buhbye

HOPE CHANGE does not mean Tee Ball with Farrakhan on the White House lawn

user-pic

Italy has gone too far with their restorations of the great works of art in their country.

user-pic

Actually it is not Italian. It is a new American Impressionist piece called "Fast Food Nation personified".

user-pic

Yoda, I see that you are becoming your avatar, which is good because it's easier to spell than urbinato.

I would like to congratulate you on receiving not one but two RenStimpy comments. Some people have all the luck.

user-pic

Let's just say that in the TPM world I'm turning 18 soon. I don't like my birth name so am thinking about legally changing it to my prefered nickname.

By the way, have you noticed that the number of posters with avatars is way up in the last week? Who was it that called for everyone to get avatars? Seems to be working.

user-pic

Also prompted a wave of avatar changing. Say what you want about my collar. I'd least I'm not wearing a kilt.

user-pic

I couldn't rock the collar - so more power to you Dr. Genghis.

Suggestion for your next avatar: keep the collar and add a kilt.

Barry + Wright + Auchi + Rezko + Ayers + Blackwell + Bittergate + Bowling = Buhbye
You forgot "Hussein" and "Orange Juice."

satire.....

isn't that supposed to be funny?

Not necessarily... but it should at least be well and clearly written, which, this is not.

Come on, Girl From the Bronx, this is a serious thread for those switching to Hillary. No more of your sarcastic "but we'd be looking at a sure win in 2012" gibes, please!

You're wrong about 2012. After eight years of Bush, whoever wins will look like Einstein, Gandhi and Friedman combined.

If we lose this one, we'll have to wait eight long years before we have another chance.

user-pic

That's not true. At 847 years old McCain can actually do a worse job than Bush did.

user-pic

The comment to recommend ratio on this post is a pathetic 6:1 (or something like that, I'm not good with math).

NOW I understand the frustration of the Hill-people on TPM.

user-pic

Good people,

It has come to my attention that we may all be infected with a very serious virus:
http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/04/is-hillary-behind-my-brain-dys.php

Check the symptoms so that you know and recommend the post to your fellow TPMers so they are informed as well.

Thank You Dr. Genghis!

user-pic

Thanks Yoda. I owe ya. I'm sorry for calling you a math troll and talking about your green ass the other day. I'm glad that there are no actual numbers in this thread.

Newt was just on The View talking up Hillary. That says that the GOP wants to run against her. She's easier to beat than Obama.

Trust me, there will be new dirt on Bill Clinton. The private investigator for Larry Flint during the Bill Clinton impeachment, Dan E. Moldea, was quoted in The Washington Post saying just that; conservatives have been/are collecting dirt on him.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/07/AR2007080702078.html

Do you think Bill has really changed his ways? He's had 7+ years since Monica and has traveled the world. What has he been doing besides earning millions?

If Hillary is our nominee, how do you think a new scandal will look in Sept? No one can mention Monica now...Barack has too much dignity, although he could destroy her with it.

Every time I heard Hillary ask about vetting Obama, I wondered...has Bill been vetted recently?

Can't...stop...staring...at the...yellow jacket. Clap, clap, point, point! I love you yellow lady!

If you can show me how she wins the black vote, which is necessary for the Democratic party to win, I'll consider voting for her if she wins the nomination.

But I still have serious doubts that she will win the nomination.

user-pic

(You're ruining the joke, gftb.)

Sorry, I ruined your jokes. I actually do go into a panic about anything to do with math. I also haven't a clue as to what gftb is. Move on....

user-pic

gftb = girl from the bronx

Okay, I'm way too old or serious to be doing this. I'll leave this to the rest of you.

And thanks Ben, for letting me me know I had snot running down my nose. Most people just let you walk away. I appreciate it. Have a good day.

user-pic

No worries, it's definitely a bit of an "in joke" kind of thing. You couldn't be expected to get it unless you spend way too much time on TPM. Oh, and I should clarify that urbinato=PJ=yoda. I didn't realize that it listed his name as PJ above. In thread, he'd be listed as urbinato thanks to a wonderful quirk here at TPM.

user-pic

Sorry all. I have multiple personality disorder and they keep logging into the same TPM account. Now if they'd all just recommend this post...

Oh, I almost missed that, too. I thought for a second it was "get the f back"

oops

Maybe I am not getting your joke girl from the bronx

See my response to Ben. No joke. Just being serious in the wrong place. I'm learning...

I don't do the joke thing very well.

Shall I try?

Okay here goes:

Yes, I too will now vote for Hillary.

I hear a new Obama theme song. It goes like this:

"How can I miss you, when you won't go away?"

Does that work, or is it too lame....?

Lots of love,

gftb

user-pic

Fine effort.

:)

Apparently sunspots are interfering with snark reception.. .

Yes, definitely. And all the carcinogens in the creams I use to hide them are not helping one bit either!

I feel your pain, gftb, it's tricksy around here.

user-pic

gftb, stick around and you will learn. We all started at one time or another, and came to get a sense of each other's political leanings and senses of humor. That's what makes this site so much fun. No one's trying to be critical of you, and there's no need to feel embarrassed. We just want to make sure we let new people "in" on some of our more obscure jokes.

This is a bit of a riff off of an old post you can find here:

http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/03/math-shmath.php

Urbinato (aka Yoda) and Genghis have a running (fake) debate over "math".

user-pic

Our next running (REAL) debate will be over the salmon colored shirt Genghis is sporting in his new avatar.

It is clearly vermillion. Perhaps with a dash of crimson. It is no more salmon than Charlie Tuna.

user-pic

Apparently the trolls say it's douche colored.

Elitist colors all.

user-pic

Is there not a single fucking thread which doesn't reference my shirt? I swear, it's made more appearances than the good reverend.

user-pic

That's because we're looking for anything to distract us from Rev. Wright and the shirt is as good a distraction as anything else.

Thank you, Allsburg.

I appreciate it.

Ooooh, nice... Thanks for the link, Allsburg.

user-pic

I feel like a guy whose youthful nude photos have just been discovered on the internet. I'm surprised that you even remembered this.

i'll count your keys

Here's a video that matches your spirit.

user-pic

Very nice.

hehe,

"Hillary: Good Game; Let's not embarrass ourselves here"

Classic.

Someone needs to make a video for Hillaria-infected nail-biting bug-eyed Obamitics.

user-pic

I was never very good with that there new math.

Well, there we have it then, She-who-was-inevitable in once again inevitable, beating he-who-had-become-inevitable, by becoming the She-who-is-once-again-inevitable, definitely.

Thank you, Yoda.

I have decided not to vote for Obama because he is African American, but that does not mean I'm a racist.

I am a realist! You see, I'm just not voting for him because he is black because black people can't be elected because other people are racist.

But not me. And certainly never Clinton.

She is the victim of race-baiting. (Nowadays, white people tend to be the real victims of racism, anyway. I feel so sorry for her for being white! That's another reason to vote for her, but it doesn't mean I'm racist or that race is a real factor in this election.)

(Accept that it makes Obama unelectable.)

Clinton is a tenacious fighter who bonds with working people over beer (but never racism).

I will follow your path and vote for Clinton because, as I think Martin Luther King once said,
"Why bother fighting, when you can drink a beer and say you did?"

user-pic
Why bother fighting, when you can drink a beer and say you did?

Golden.

user-pic

Thank you LBS. You can't go wrong with such an historic quote like that from MLK. Indeed, I know for a FACT that MLK, if alive today, would have endorsed Hillary.

user-pic

O you Judas!

Ok, that's over. I guess I can kick back, fire it up and forget the whole thing.

Actually if I didn't live here, watching the Restoration lurch through the general election could be entertaining.

Since I'm a citizen, however, not so much.

Hey, if Yoda can do it, I can do it!

I'm going for Hillary.

It's not just that she really - I mean it now - really feels my working class pain, it's that she likes cheap Canadian whiskey by the sipper shot and has millions in the bank like me.
It's not simply that she's a toast-dry policy wonk who wants to have a long talk about it, it's that she's simultaneously vitriolic AND forgetful! A pinch of bellicosity here, a dash of conspiracy theory there and you can see the delightfully bizarre cookie dough that Clinton's putting in the oven. And damnit, I want some of them cookies.

YOU TILTED MY GAYDAR

Take your hands out of your pockets and try not to sniff the fingers.

Now go make me a sandwich.

VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE
NOT YOUR WHITE GUILTY CONSCIENCE

RenStimpy, you eediot!!

Also, you appear to share an e mail address with a registered sex offender in West Virginia. But I'm sure that's just a coinkydink.

Furthermore, RenStimpy -

Anybody whose avatar is a pic of Michelangelo's David distorted to make it look like the Venus of Willendorf has got a helluva nerve talking about "gaydar".

(By the way, I tried to use terms you can locate "in the Google". Good luck.)

user-pic

I believe that is the truth cuz I read it on this here blog.

user-pic

Mr. Horse looks confused.....

says, "hmmmmmm"

Thinks very hard....

Sums up with, "No sir, I don't like it."

http://www.bdt.com/david/images/rs002.jpg

"Rubber Nipple Salesmen" is still my favorite episode.

user-pic

The pic isn't the same without the dramatic music, though.

:D

That and "don't pee on the electric fence."

I still have my log here somewhere...

Workerbee,

Wow. Impressive Ren & Stimpy reference. That horse is one of my favorite characters.

Did someone design this avatar especially for you? It's very cute!

I had no idea that bees have tongues!

user-pic

Thank you! I borrowed it from some disreputable snarkers and tweaked it meself.

:)

For one thing, the bee now has ONE eye open. Of course bees have tongues. We use them for lashing unsuspecting posters, whenever possible, (and beer consumption, of course.)

I bought my daughter a stuffed Stimpy toy when she was three (Who has a blue nose?!). We were faithful viewers.

user-pic

Whoa - thank you so much for revealing that.

ok

i found the funny

I have also recently learned that the Republicans used up all their material attacking Hillary in the 90s and will have nothing to attack her with now, and that since the Clintons were "cleared of all charges" there are no scandals attached to them that anyone could possibly bring up in the general. The general election campaign is all going to be Hillary announcing she is a fighter and Republicans cowering in her wake. And Obama's pastor is a scary black preacher man. Therefore I, too, am now for Hillary.

user-pic

I'm now for Hillary because I do whatever urbinato does.

user-pic

But can you do this?!
(imagine me tap dancing in front of my computer)

Is this puppet Yoda or CGI Yoda? Because that, as they say, makes all the difference.

user-pic

My mom is a puppet from Iowa and my dad is CGI from Kenya. It's really a beautiful story and they produced a kid with big ears and a funny name.

I bow at your greatness.

Holy s**t. Funniest comment ever.

Umm...learn your own biography. It was Kansas.

user-pic

No...I think I know where my mom is from: I-O-W-A. Jesus, I'm not Barack Obama...I'm the Yoda avatar on TPM.

Frustrating!

(good catch, my bad)

Iowa, Kansas...they're all the same thing: Insignificant now that they've voted for Barack.

I've learned the error of my ways, wise one. Thanks be to you for showing me the Path to the Yellow Jacket.

(imagine me tap dancing in front of my computer)

Ahhhh.

Thanks. Needed that.

Yes, since she won the BIG states, it shows that Obama cannot possibly win them in November because he lost them in the primary and winning the big states is the only way to win, just ask president Kerry.

The math you do love. Thanks for the laugh. You should do a numerology follow up, I think the letters of her name add up to Hillary is 44.

No, astrology would be a better matrix. Didn't Rove say that at Fox ("more presidents are born in October than in any other month") and didn't Hillary gleefully agree with that RW angel?

Switch you your allegiance to Hillary? No shame have you!

user-pic

Get on board the Hillarytrain!

When she lost the caucus states, she entranced me!!!!!!

I MUST vote for her now. How could I not?

Yeehaww!!

when you get to where you're going left....
can you turn around and comeback right?

Only if Hillary is leading me.

It's the new math. It has me sooo confused. All Yoda/Urbinato's fault. He should never had posted this blog and I would have remained a devoted Obama supporter.

Yoda, may I please have a glass of koolaid while I learn the new math?

user-pic

THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS!! FOR HILLARY!!!

user-pic

Where is idiotic, anyway?

user-pic

It's funny, after hearing Obama dis the Wright Rev. I find I'm angry at him. He should have gone out for a beer with the guy instead!

That said, I realized that I was angry with Obama Up until now I haven't cared one way or the other.

I'm afraid, very afraid I'm tilting toward the kool-aid. Somebody help me!

I'm falling off the fence!!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

CaliforniaPaige strategically places large vat of Koolaid next to the fence to "cushion" workerbee's fall

user-pic

I feel feverish? Izzat normal/

user-pic

Whatever. She's just trying to drum up attention for a Destor-like announcement. I knew that these Edwards supporters would come around eventually. Now all we need is Edwards himself.

user-pic

I reject and renounce my feelings of yesterday. I actually AM feverish (102), and have an infection in my right eye. This is obviously causing some blurriness of vision and perception, and my unbalanced feeling. My doctor has advised warm kool-aid, er, saline shots, er, compresses every half minute, er, hour. I think that's wot he said.

It all makes sense to me now. I'm suffering from an illness in vision.

It's the WORLD that's tilted. I'm level and steady, despite my vertigo.

BTW, I left you a colorful present on your own thread, and you haven't as much as acknowledged it. I mean, how mean!

Vermillion makes you look pink. I'd avoid it and go with some other vibrant, but skintone enhancing, color.

So, next week yoda, when another Hillary faux pas crops up, are you going to switch back again? If you thought Obama was unprepared to be President, why did you support him in the first place?

Some of us vote for principles -- not who is most electable. Hillary's dishonesty should have already disqualified her from consideration in the minds of every voter and the party leadership. It wasn't just the lie -- it was the chillingly convincing way she told it. When Larry Craig lied publicly, the GOP shunned him. Hillary lies and the party leadership is shockingly silent.

Just consider the Youtube reel of Hillary lying about Travel Gate, Monica Gate, and Bosnia Gate. Match that up with Bill's very public lies. Anyone who thinks Hillary is more electable better wake up and take a whiff.

user-pic

BrookD has convinced me. Hillary lies better, therefore she is more electable.

Hillary'08!

brook

turn on your snrak'o meter.

hmph!
And I love Hillary's booty! hmph!! *slap slap*

I find your comment degrading to women.

And I vote!

Hillary, we're here for you.

Learn to take a joke my lady.

You want to talk about degrading? Find a SEAN BELL link and then hit me back.

Of course, id be reading you out of context, but sounds like your one of those "I just want to vote for a women, doesnt matter what kind of women" people. But im not one to usually judge :)

Have a good one

oh wait...I just saw her name "MonicaL".

I think I took her seriously....my bad lol.

Definitely - win = Hillary + will.

The black vote: Sad but true(felons can't vote). This leaves mostly black women that can actually vote.

The disproportionate representation of black Americans in the U.S. criminal justice system is well documented.
Blacks comprise 13 percent of the national population, but 30 percent of people arrested, 41 percent of people in jail, and 49 percent of those in prison. Nine percent of all black adults are under some form of correctional supervision (in jail or prison, on probation or parole), compared to two percent of white adults. One in three black men between the ages of 20 and 29 was either in jail or prison, or on parole or probation in 1995.
One in ten black men in their twenties and early thirties is in prison or jail. Thirteen percent of the black adult male population has lost the right to vote because of felony disenfranchisement laws.

user-pic

WARNING - SINCERE COMMENT BELOW
Remember though that in most states ex-felons can register to vote once their sentence has been served. North Carolina is an example of a state with this law. Florida and a handful of other state disenfranchise a person forever (although if that person moves to a state like NC, they can vote again).

I would say it's a bit of a stretch to say that "mostly black women that can actually vote."

But it is true that these felon laws were designed by conservatives who understand the demographics and are seeking to disenfranchise a segment of the population.

Thanks for the warning. You're forgiven. After all, today you led me from out of the darkness into the brilliant sunshine of Hillaritual Practice.

user-pic

I do what I can while on this earth.

Newt was just on The View talking up Hillary. That says that the GOP wants to run against her. She's easier to beat than Obama.

I am now convinced that Hillary will win, and I am now switching from supporting Obama to accepting that Hillary will win.

God has chosen Hillary to win, and that is why he has provided her with The Wright Stuff!

user-pic

McCain has stated that women do not deserve equal pay.

Hillary has already lost the nomination, so she's staying in to drag Obama down to defeat in the fall so she can run again in 2012.

Thus - are you following this, ladies? -

A vote for Hillary is a vote for McCain is a vote AGAINST YOURSELVES.

Ladies, are you really feeling stupid now?

I can't believe that hard core, reasoned Obama supporters like Urban and Ben would give up so easily. Though I'm a known Clinton supporter, I'm very disappointed in you guys because you showed me to be an idiot.

When the poker action got really hot a couple of summer vacations back, I got in dead stroke and played in 26 poker games over about a six week period without ever calling anyone on the final bet and losing. One guy that secretly followed the streak said it was the most amazing thing he'd ever seen.

But I was dead ass wrong about you guys. I had you pegged for deer-in-the-headlights biased jumpers who hate Clinton worse than Bush-Cheney-McCain.

Have I lost it? This the last week of school. I wonder what's going to happen when I start playing poker again.

SIRTS

I think that he got the joke and was just playing along. At least I hope that was what was going on there.

Hail Hillary the Heroine-HHH (Minnesota is HHH country)

and not to lose the thread-irony is not a word made up on the Colbert Report (sic truthy)

THIS is irony (
from dazzleman at the Atlas Forum
"Reagan had the relatively rare ability to even get some people who opposed his policies to vote for him. I think you hit the nail on the head when you spoke about his tapping into hopes and aspirations.

For those who didn't live through the period, it's hard to explain the level of hopelessness, helplessness and sense of decline that had beset the US, and really the entire west, in the years leading up to Reagan's election in 1980. People had little faith in the future, and had been conditioned to believe that the best we could hope for was a controlled decline.

Reagan was like a ray of light in a room that had been dark for a very long time. There was something about people's reaction to him that transcended their political views. He made many people, myself included, believe, some for the first time, that the future might be good, and allowed us to view it with hope rather than foreboding. And he made people feel good about their country in a way that no president since possibly JFK had.

I wish there were somebody like Reagan on the horizon for 2008. Maybe there is, and we'll find out later. Nobody predicted before Reagan came into office that he would have the effect on the country's morale that he had. I hope for somebody like Reagan to be our next president -- somebody who can get us to transcend petty differences, and get at least some people to think about what they like and love more than what they hate.

Nobody could have beaten Reagan in 1984."

HAIL HILLARY the HEROINE-HHH
"News flash", election day 2008-John McCain and HHH lose to Reagan Obama in a landslide-bummer, say it ain't so)

Yoda, they're trying to get more American tourists interested in the sights by Americanizing the David. You know, fat like me.

I find your comment degrading to heavy people who support the Clintons.

And I vote!
