She's b-a-a-a-a-ck! "Tonya" Clinton to don her blades before PA Primary

She's b-a-a-a-a-ck! Just when you thought it was safe...."Tonya"Clinton is putting her skates back on, some time before primary day in Pennsylvania. So says a Clinton operative "overheard" by National Review reporter Jim Geraghty. I don't know the creditability of the NR. Still, this bears watching.

The Clinton campaign is circling the drain. Only by mortally wounding Obama would Clinton have any hope of getting the nomination in her lifetime. As others have warned, she would have to break Obama's back now, ruining him as a politician forever, to even hope for last ditch run in 2012.

If a Bombshell Will Drop in Pennsylvania, It Will Drop a Week From Now
Jim Geraghty. Thursday, April 10, 2008. The National Review

A smart political operative said within earshot of me yesterday that if Hillary has more metaphorical bombshells to drop on Obama — and this operative has heard secondhand that she does — she'll do so between April 16, the date of her next debate with Obama, and April 22, Pennsylvania's primary day. The timing, of course, is so she doesn't get asked about it by the moderator or confronted by Obama.

Hillary's numbers have actually been inching up a bit in the Keystone state lately. At the beginning of the month, Public Policy Polling shocked the world by suggesting Obama was ahead by two points. Their latest poll puts Hillary up by 3. In the Insider Advantage poll, Hillary's lead has increased from three percent to ten percent. In SurveyUSA, she's gone from leading by 12 to leading by 18. Some other polls show no change or a slight loss of ground.

someone overheard someone and you jump to conclusions unwarranted by any sane person.

get a grip, really. your view of women is really quite low, isnt it?

any woman who competes has to the mannish, and brutal and heartless blah blah blah

elton john was right there is lots of hate for women

go look at the figures for domestic abuse

woman, you cant beat them, but you often do...but not you of course, nobody here, its truly always the other kind of people who are wife beaters

tonya, hillary, yeah, they are pretty much all the same

this is not the change anyone with any brains was looking for, but we found it

Hmm.. unsourced hearsay from the NRO. I think it's safe to ignore this. Anyhow, she obviously will have to take him to the mat if she wants a win, so it's not like anyone should be surprised that she plans on fighting it out. Otherwise she would have already conceded.

Unless she plans on pulling a Huckabee. We can hope, can't we?

NO!

I love how people play Nostradamus based on hearsay about rumors about gossip.

LOL

If there's something bad to reveal about Obama, I'd rather Obama step up and say it than Team Clinton, and certain before Republicans do. As much as I prefer Clinton, it's much better for the Democratic party for the candidates to control scandals by bringing them up themselves than sitting like a duck waiting to get shot.

Ugh... Why can't we have ONE CANDIDATE who doesn't have ANY scandals?

For the same reason the Republicans can't. Those kind of people don't tend to run for office.

But it doesn't mean that a smart "inoculation" by the Obama campaign wouldn't be smart.

Like bringing it up at the debate (note that they conveniently backed out of the 19th debate in NC?), say something like:

"oh, and if any more ridiculous stuff comes up right before the primary, I would urge people to think about the timing, and if they're not sure, maybe just don't vote. i would hate to be judged (again) based on hearsay without having a chance to answer".

who is "they"? No one backed out of the NC debate on the 19th. The Clinton campaign never agreed to it. The Obama campaign agreed to the PA debate and an NC debate - originally scheduled for the 19th. The Clinton campaign originally refused the NC debate, then eventually "agreed" to an NC debate, but set the date for later (the 26th, I believe?). Last I heard, the Obama camp had not agreed to the new date, but they were still looking to have an NC debate. They were just holding out for the original date.

Obviously, there is a big difference between a debate on the 19th of April and one on the 26th - the timing of the PA primary.

But technically, no one ever "backed out" of the NC debate. The Clinton camp is just trying to work over the timing. It will probably turn into "Obama won't debate me in NC" before too long, though.

Well, it was proposed to them as a 19th debate, and they vetoed that. The date wasn't proposed by Obama's campaign.

I don't know what would have a scheduling priority over a debate. But yea, I'm waiting to see what will come out of that. My guess is that Obama will just quietly agree to the 26th, since the 19th is coming up soon.

I agree - he might warn voters that she's going to be slinging mud in her desperate last days.

But then again, the press will just lap that up. Remember how "fascinated" they were by that awful 3 am ad. "Ooooooh, she's gone negative!!! So let's replay it for free 1000 times!"

Maybe best to focus on his issues and his message.

Awfully, awfully thin. There's no reason in the NR stuff to believe it.

I've got a lingering fear Hillary might pull some horrific destructive stunt but this report doesn't provide any information to confirm that fear.

Heh heh, your title is great.

So is your imagery:

The Clinton campaign is circling the drain.

I am in full support of paranoid delusional anticipation.
Its coming the Thursday afternoon or Friday morning before the PA Tuesday primary. (unnamed sources in my head confirm)

How smart is this operative if he/she isn't checking to see if anyone is within earshot?

I'm a little surprised everyone is disparaging this rumor so completely. I mean, it's not like Hillary hasn't pulled this sort of thing before, is it?

user-pic

Remember back in January when Clinton's campaign kept hinting to a bombshell they had on Obama, and it never came to fruition.

Much of the same. If they truly had a bombshell, we would have seen it already.

You hear it on the blogosphere any time Obama's numbers go up. Dembilic is a good representative.
