VOLUNTEER IN PHILADELPHIA

I'm going to be re-posting this regularly.  If anyone wants to help out volunteering in North Philly please contact Max Stahl at either mstahl@barackobama.com or (781) 540-9648.  We will find you volunteer housing if you are from out of state.  Right now I am staying with some really nice folks.
Our area is one of the most important parts of PA.  Due to the large support for Barack in North Philly we need to get as much voter turn out as possible.  If voter turn out is high enough in Philadelphia it may swing the state for Barack.  Of course PA is still a rather steep uphill climb, but that is my area's strategy.
If you are a supporter and you read this post, please recommend it so it stays alive in the thread.  We need as many people to see this request as possible.

Also, on a completely separate note to anyone who is not a supporter:  I completely respect your decision for which ever candidate, so please don't leave disrespectful comments on my blog.  It's not very nice and detracts from the purpose of this Election.

Don't forget Northeast Philly as you worry about North Philly turnout. I think the problem there is a lot of low info voters, and that is due to various reason, not the least of which is the language barrier in some ethnic groups that limits their exposure to pro-Obama media.

E.g., a Russian-speaking friend of mine tells me that most of the widely read Russian newspapers are pro-Republican, with analysis columns full of intolerance that wouldn't pass in the mainstream media. So all that kind of stuff must be debunked in the voters' native languages through news outlets they trust.

Hi Elizabeth,

I took a cheap shot last time and I apologize. I have to say that I applaud your wanting to get people organized. Its great to see. Good luck on your efforts even though I may hope that your not that successful

Good luck, I bet if he takes PA, or even comes close, Carter will make a definate committment.

In Connecticut folks don't take too kindly to outsiders working local elections. Do be careful your enthusiasm doesn't backfire.

Be respectful.

Who cares if you're an outsider or not. I'm from Michigan; I haven't been able to help Barack at all (except through a few paltry donations and a vote for "uncommitted" in January). I'd love to help by canvassing for him and wish I could. Unfortunately my work schedule precludes me from traveling to Philly for such an effort.

Ha. Wouldn't it be funny if it turns out that Hillary wins this thing because people like me, who can't afford not to work, weren't able to help bolster the Obama campaign? Just a thought.

Out of staters shout not be shunned, in any event. If I could do it I would. And if the tables were turned I would not dismiss an out-of-state resident for knocking on my door, no matter who they supported. I would respect them all the more for being willing to travel so far to canvass for the candidate they so believed in.

Besides, didn't this whole "State above Country" thing go out the door sometime back in 1865? Whatever.

Are you kidding?

"Bussing" people in smacks of the paid agitators "bussed in" 2000 to Florida, and the young Republicans for Lieberman fiasco.

Sorry. The PA Primary is all about PA voters, if Obama needs to ship in a lot of out of staters, it makes him look bad. People start wondering why he can't find in-state supporters.

I just passed this on to friends in Philly - good luck!
