What Do People Know About Geoffrey Garin?

The pounce on Obama's comments about rural voters -- in which the gist of what Obama was saying is ignored and Obama's made out to be an elitist, notwithstanding Hillary's vulnerabilities in this area -- seems not a lot different from anything Mark Penn might do.

But is it the same? Am I missing some way in which this might work that Penn's similar tactics did not?

And if it's the same, what is it that's different about Garin? Does it have less to do with campaign tactics and more to do with just working better with other members of the campaign than Penn did?

I've gotten curious now that we're seeing him in action for the first (I think) time!

Well its also his name isnt Mark Penn, if it was Penn saying this then people would take it differently then some unknown guy.

Actually, all of the negative, gotcha, kitchen sink stuff from the Clinton campaign started when Solis left and Maggi Williams came on officially. This is her style, remember the defense of the Foster scandal. It has her fingerprints all over it.

They can't seem to be able to keep everybody on message.

The more extreme Clinton gets, the more her coalition of opportunistic political hacks will fall apart.

Evan Bayh Doesn’t Think Obama is an Elitist

Bayh, speaking after Sen. Hillary Clinton’s town hall meeting in Indianapolis today, said he didn't agree with Clinton’s assertion that Obama’s comments were elitist, but said that doesn't mean the remarks won't hurt Obama.

"I don’t believe he is an elitist," Bayh said "His comments were open to interpretation, that’s the problem and the Republicans will use that ruthlessly against him, that’s the problem.

"I'm concerned that statements like this, even if they are taken out of context, can be used very effectively by the other side to keep us from getting the change that we need," Bayh said.
