Will Obama win his bet?
It is absolutely amazing that Obama continues to "bet" on the American people. I just wonder how long it will be before the American people are misled once again. I can only "hope" that people continue to see past the thick political cloud that surrounds him. I think it's funny that everyone around him is trying to get him to play the game but he knows there is no game to be played. Is it possible that Americans have finally become a people that seeks what lies behind the political cloud that has covered all politicians in the world today? I sure do hope so. Obama seems to be winning his bet. Let's hope he continues to do so. Do you think he should continue to bet on the American people?

Absolutely!

Normally I'd say no. The American people showed just how clueless they were in 2004.
But Obama seems to have a better plan, and maybe he can change the odds by working hard, playing nice but effectively, and inspiration the hope out of us.

As long as the corporate media/republicans/the Clinton establishment/the neocon establishment/the entire military industrial complex/mega-hedge fund managers/the Federal reserve/oil companies/lobbyists/special interests and every other large conglomerate incapable of imagining a world in which they are rendered powerless in Washington are against him, who else can he count on?

I think he already has won that bet and it's all over but for the crying.
This isn't 2004. The Internet finally grew up just enough for us to elect the right person. It's a watershed moment that I think most Americans get and a certain small percentage on both sides of the ideological divide never will.
That's why he is winning. No other explanation makes sense.

I have to say that I have been pleasantly encouraged about the state of American people during this camapign. They really do seem much more resistant to distractions and cultural hot buttons, and are pushing back against a media that seems addicted to that kind of politics.

Yes. I think he should. Seems like all it takes is time for it to sink in--to persuade folks that our politics can change. We don't have to settle for the old ways.
Last night, Obama said Hillary learned the wrong lessons back in 1992. He's right. I hope folks took notice of that. By engaging in their games and taking politics to their level, Hillary (and, sadly, many other Democrats) conceded power to the right-wing noise machine. Obama seems determined to persuade us to reject the ridiculous distractions the MSM and politicans shower on us, and to get seriously engaged and empowered in our politics.
It will take time for some people to see that Obama really means what he's saying. That's because folks have plenty of reason to be cynical. And that may explain why it's the older generations that are the least inclined to trust Obama right away--they've seen way too many years' worth of political bullshit to be willing to put their confidence into the notion that we can actually change it. That's okay, though, because Obama seems to be a patient and persistent guy.

Good comment. I hope this continues to be the case during the general election, because that's when "the silly season" really begins.

He has said all along that CHANGE wouldn't be "easy" - this is what dis-ease looks like.

I heard one of the left-wing talking heads mention this morning that Obama is "too cerebral." We sure wouldn't want an intelligent candidate. I can't believe how asinine our national discourse gets these days. We've currently got a prez who isn't too cerebral and look where that's got us.

I have been to two hog callens ,and a bunch of county fairs, but I haven't seen such "swoonen", since Elvis first shook a leg.
Is 'cerebral" like "dreamer" ? But "too dreamer" doesn't quite jive. Must be all in his head.
Honey, are you confused, or did you mean "Go-Bama"
like "Roll Tide".
And uh, uh and, he's not really sure what he said, or meant to say, or didn't know what he said when he uh and, and uh maybe said or didn't say it. He's starting to stumble more than Geo Bush, and that takes some doing.
