1776

Hillary Rodham Clinton now has 1776 delegate endorsements. This number is also one of the most significant dates in the history of our country - the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Despite corporate-owned news pumping out negative propaganda by the hour.  Despite all of our democratic blogs being hijacked and converted into Clinton hate mills.  Despite Soros buying out the NYT,  and super delegates by the dozen,More Americans voted for Clinton than any democratic candidate in our nations history. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the next president of the United States of America.

So is the argument now that Obama has TOO MANY delegates to be the nominee?

That's a new one.

Unlike Al Gore, she has the spine to stand up and fight.

Um this is also true more people have voted for Barack Obama than any other democratic candidate in primary history.

Hate to deflate your nuts, but Hillary has the popular vote.

You really have to live in a James Inhofe denialist universe to assert this as if it were fact.

$4 an hour?

You're right present. If you include states where BO wasn't on the ballot, and where BO didn't campaign, and exclude caucuses (which are defacto dictatorships as we all know) HC is winning. Well, almost winning. Sorta.

Seriously though, the whole "more votes than ever" spiel has much to do with two facts:
1. there are more Americans than ever
2. we have a primary that actually went past Super Tuesday

This cuts against both sides.

So, is that the metric de jour from Camp Hillary? The person who gets a number of delegates that matches an historically significant years wins?

If so, Obama wins because he got to any year you care to choose after the Norman Conquest before Hillary did. Black Plague (1344)? Obama. Pilgrams landing at Plymouth Rock? (1620)? Obama. Seven Years War (1756)? Obama. Lexington and Concord (1774)? Obama. Declaration of Independence? Obama. Constitution ratified? Obama. Emancipation Proclamation (1863)? Obama and Hillary hasn't even gotten there second. Beatlemania and the British Invasion--just to bring things full circle? Well, as of today, Obama has 1964 delegates.

The highest previous popular vote number I can find for a Democratic candidate is 10.4 million. This was Bill Clinton in 1992.

If someone can find some one who is higher than this let me know.

So in truth both Senators Clinton and Obama have received more popular votes than any other previous Democratic Presidential Candidate.

However using Specialist metric of counting states that so far are not being counted, giving Hillary all the MI votes and Obama none and leaving out Caucus estimates Hillary has received the very most, for the moment.

Appalachian is correct on the popular vote math. The Commenter Formerly Known as NCSteve is right about the manufactured metrics. Here are some more "Alternative Metrics" that the Clinton campaign may want to use:

* Most contributions from PACs and Washington lobbyists.

* Most shots slammed in an hour

* Longest wait on tarmac before declaring victory in Florida

* Most snipers dodged

* Most contributions from lemonade stands and sale of children's bicycles

* Most alternative metrics devised

* Longest sustained period of denial about candidate's viability

* Most blatant appeals to gender, race and religion

* Highest histamine level

* Best of show

* Most Pantsuits
