Assassination talk gives Dean good reason to End. This. Now.
I wrote to DNC Chairman Howard Dean just now, asking him to take charge to end the primary before disaster strikes.
If you want to write as well, here is the address for the comment

Text of my email:
I am horrified at Senator Clinton's latest comment about why she's staying in the race -- hinting that Senator Obama may be assassinated -- and urge you and the Democratic leadership to immediately take
whatever action is necessary to END THIS PRIMARY!! Meanwhile, I hope that someone has the foresight to get Barack Obama extra Secret Service protection. Some white-robed looney may take Clinton's comments to heart. Please -- DO something. This monstrosity of a Clinton campaign, from the "hardworking white voters," comment to the not a Muslim "as far as I know," smear is tearing the Democratic party apart and may be putting our presumptive candidate in ever greater physical danger.
It. Must. End. Now. Gather the super delegates and lay down the law. Please. Thank you.

Agreed. These politicians are (very) sensitive to the sentiments of voters. It is important for as many people as possible to keep the pressure on the uncommitted delegates. See tonnyb's post of the list of uncommitted delegates (this should be reposted daily until this battle is over), find any that are in or near your electoral area, and email them.
Democratic politicians are reluctant to confront the Clintons. In fairness, Bill Clinton was the most successful Democratic politician in a generation, though his personal foibles almost destroyed his legacy. The Clintons are also potent fund raisers, a fact that gets the attention of pols.
These uncommitted folks need a big push to cut their umbilical cord attachment to the Clintons, and take the plunge for Obama. To paraphrase the old Chicago election adage, write to the supers of your choice, write early, write often.

AnitaBee - You inspired me, here's what I sent to Dr. Dean...
Dear Dr. Dean,
I am writing because I am extremely concerned about the mental stability of Mrs. Clinton at this point in time. She appears to be on the brink of a nervous breakdown. I can find no other reason for her complete lack of judgement in bringing up the assassination of her opponent as a reason to prolong her failed campaign.
This is NOW a huge embarrassment to the Democratic Party, not to mention a security issue for the presumptive nominee!
We Democrats have looked the other way as she, her husband and their surrogates threw thinly veiled racist remarks and Republican tallking point since South Carolina - but, enough is enough!!
We are NOT the Republican Party - We are decent, upstanding citizens with our moral compass intact. As Democrats we CAN NOT and WILL NOT stand for this type of politics.
Either she issues a REAL, sincere mea culpa and admits to what she has (wittingly or unwittingly) done or shun her from the party. She has crossed the line, Dr. Dean. This cannot be ignore or excused.

He can't really do anything about this. He doesn't control the DNC--he's just its head. No one can force the few spineless, feckless remaining superdelegates to commit. We can only wait.

Maybe you're right, hrebendorf but it can't hurt to make your sentiments known. If enough of us flood Dean with email, that fact will get communicated beyond Dean.
What I can say with certainty is, to do nothing, to say nothing, is certain to have no effect.

Don't get me wrong--I write to him all the time. I do it knowing that this thing just needs to play out, but I write often.

I disagree, respectfully, hrebendorf: You can be sure that Democratic pols around the country are talking about little else besides the question of when and how Hillary pulls out. Remember, their jobs, future mega-earning potential, and future political careers depend on how they handle this. As soon as the group think comes to the conclusion that she needs to be nudged out, it will happen (after the last primary).
My guess is that they have already decided to end this quickly in early June. But we can help make sure it happens by keeping on the heat.
Note that the Clinton campaign's response to what happened yesterday was initially to counterattack. When the widespread reaction became apparent (mainly on the Web, through sites like TPM), they backed right down, and turned apologetic.
What is said here, what is emailed to party leaders, does matter in the aggregate. So email early, email often!!!
