« Clinton Running Out of Goalposts | hrebendorf's Blog | Why Is Hillary Still In It? »

Barack the Magnificent

I have a good friend--female, in her mid-50s--who is an ardent Hillary supporter.  She's been waiting years for this election.  Hillary as president is something she was absolutely certain she would see in her lifetime.  Not only that, but she's bought into all the Clinton talking points, and she believes Obama is a complete charlatan.  She's told me many times, and in no uncertain terms, that there is "NO WAY" she would vote for Obama.  She cites all the standard garbage: he's too inexperienced, an African-American can't win, "he hasn't done anything" in his career, etc., etc.

She's incredibly disappointed by what's happened, of course, but she told me last night: "Oh, I'll vote for him.  I sure the hell don't want McCain in the White House."

I think that's how it's going to go once Hillary finally drops out.  And I don't think Obama's going to have a problem winning over white men either.  I'm not worried.

Have you heard "Barack the Magnificent" by Trinidadian musician Mighty Sparrow?

Dear hrebendorf,

I also have family and friends(Hillary supporters) with whom I've had quite vigorous discussions about the campaign. I know they too, will follow the scenario you've described.

In general, I think we should get off the Hillary bashing ban- wagon, though. I think Obama will be the official nominee quite soon.

But where I won't stop speaking out is when it comes to issues related to race, which I think are very complicated. Hillary seems to be digging that hole again from what I can tell this morning. Not good. See flufferwink's post:

Thanks for your links. They are great. Having lived in Germany for many years, I found the ones describing the European reactions to Obama quite informative.

Great post. Thanx for the links.

Awesome--thanks!

Sparrow! I love it!

STOP....lets just make him KING Of the world. Obviously, he is the second coming and you guys have already recognized the fact. Lets all kneel to His Highness Barack Hussein Obama.

So bitter for one so young.

Don't mind Louise.

When Hillary got rocked last Tuesday, she suffered from a capsized cranium.

Settle down. He'll be a fine president, and no one is deifying him. People are just excited. If you're a Democrat, you should take some time, think about what's important to you, and then get behind the nominee. You may have some differences with your fellow Democrats over who the nominee should have been. But think about what McCain wants to do to this country. The damage he's hoping to inflict will last for generations.

Hr.....as of today we don't have a nominee. But, I did hear that he was faster than a speeding bullet and he was going to cure Cancer after he got rid of that pesky Hillary. Her with her questions about substance and asking what I really might do as President. Doesn't she realize all I have to do is HOPE and it will all be fine?

You're arguing with reality, bud.

Doesn't she realize all I have to do is HOPE and it will all be fine?

You have it backward. If we just have enough sense to despair, that will solve all our problems.

Of course, we'll also have to curtail free speech and wage a few more wars, too.
