Hillary's Gas Tax Holiday Bill (Teri Schiavo, anyone?)

So, in support of her doomed bid for the Democratic nomination, Hillary's going to embroil the Congress in her machinations??!

You know what this reminds me of? It reminds me of the Teri Schiavo bill. Except here it's being driven by one Senator who wants to be President. ONE SENATOR.

Op-Ed Columnist: Dumb as We Wanna Be

See "radical" Thomas Freidman's NYT piece.

Enough said.

Well said. Sadly the argument 'you'll only get ~$30' is the wrong one, the right one is 'the oil companies will make MORE money if we take the gas tax away...any one versed in even a basic understanding of the economy would know this'

At least two Senators, actually. Don't forget McCain.

Perhaps the bill will die in committee. Most bills have to be introduced into a given committee, such as the Commerce Committee. They are voted on (and amended by) the committee, which then votes to send the bill to the floor. Harry Reid then schedules the bill for a vote...

So, perhaps some cooler heads will prevail, and this thing will get hung up in committee

I think the real farce here is that anyone in the Congress or the President can 'intervene' in these kinds of economic problems.

Our economy as a whole is impacted by a Sum of Policy Decisions - not a blue light special.

True, as far as having professed support goes. But has he signed onto the bill? Or said he was going to? It'll be interesting to see how far his willingness to pander goes. So far, only Hillary seems to be willing to subvert the Congress in her efforts to pander on this issue.
