This "Meet the Press" segment from late January '08 provides the clearest statement of McCain's hypocrisy and willingness to pander to the Republican base on the issue of Bush's tax cuts.
I want a leader, not a panderer. Craven sucking up is not my idea of presidential leadership. And bestowing even more gifts on those few Americans who have already reaped immense rewards is not my idea of common decency.
Even John McCain once knew that.
Until he lost his bearings.

I think Barack needs to be careful here.
"Bearing[S] vs. Bearing."
There's a difference. The first one looks like he's calling him old and senile, and the second describes McCain's repeated foreign policy mix ups and lapses in judgment/temper.

You're right that Barack needs to be careful here. Adding the adjective would help.
