mickey cantor & clintons slimed as racists...again
there is nothing new here to see, so lets all run duck cover and pretend that this kind of calumny is not to be tolerated by us dumb arsed white people who are supporting hillary...a doctored video sends the obama nuts, yes, i mean that literally, the ranks of obama supporters clearly support nut jobs who would crassly inject a false issue, cynically, into the national bloodstream, one already inflamed by much talk of racism, most of it having zero, nada, zilch, nil, none, help me here...all this stuff obama is suffering from,...all the unfair crap that little timmy russett potato headboy will throw at him...wright, ayers, bitters...none of it has any damn thing to do with hillary.
thus, to propogate the filth this fake video comes out, setting off the loons into full flight and voice, a loon makes a loony sound, sort of like the pod people, hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil, all is good for obama even making racist taunts and charged almost totally unsubstantiated by any rational human being.
oh, of course, its been shown to be a fake, well, too bad, when you make a racist slander even if you go back later and say, my bad, oops, the damage is there, the poison exists.
this diary will disappear into the swamps of disregarded and distained, i can live with that, but listen up dudes, when i, as a 60 year old white guy, who pretty much has stood for fairness for all people, everywhere, human rights mean more to me than other crap, when i see people i have supported, in good faith, and still hold in varying degrees of value to society, when they are slandered, i am slandered.
we old codgers value loyalty, at least this one does, and when we see one of us...being slimed in this manner by folks speaking about change...bullshit, this aint change, this is still racism, only now spewed and sold by so called progressives, hey, if this is your "change" please take it, turn it sideways and shove it up...well, i am getting carried away here, but to make a point, you do not destroy a village to change it....you can do that, but you are going to piss those villagers off, and this really pisses me off, nobody likes being called a racist, not obama, wright, cantor, or me....give this crap a rest, run on qualifications not lies, poison and bitter cynicisms

I'll be carrying your spirit into South Bend, Indiana, as I canvass for Clinton today.

Since you seem particularly fixated on 1992 history, you should know that she refused to learn to bake cookies, too. Both an outrage, to be sure.

BTW, after reading more of your comments, I get your princess avatar now, you think politics is like Star Wars and everything that happens must be good or evil. Also was thinking you really do need to rent and watch the entire "War Room" documentary, you know, the entire movie that the director actually made, get an idea of how winning a presidency is actually done, mostly by staying on message and not getting waylaid by silly stuff and not giving the silly stuff more buzz.
It's people like you on the net that are the Obama campaign's worst enemy, you create buzz for crap stories so that he can't get his message out.

I was just over at AlterNet reading a long article by Betsy Reed on
misogyny and racism in the Democratic nominating process.
It was a very thoughtful article and it fits well with an article in today's New York Times about the backlash that the media seems ignore when it comes to black voters who have been the most loyal Democratic voters since the Voting Rights Act in 60s. I no more want to be labeled a misogynist than you want to be called a racist. Those two words have been tossed around like playthings.
Just for the record, I am thinking about voting for Sen. Obama and I didn't jump one this one because I know how the media operates. Everyone wants to break news. Sometimes the news is just broken; and we are all being injured.

Hey look - some asshole did a wrong thing. There were a lot of Obama supporters yesterday making that point on here. So you can ascribe to the one drop poisons the well type generalizations, or not. Your choice. It seems to me you've been painting with too broad a brush for some time now.

too broad a brush? just look at the diary titles on here and other liberal blogs, ones i have always thought of as informative, see how many still show up calling out indiana folks to think this is how the clintons truly feel, its what most of the obama posters seem to believe into, anything nasty, monstrous or whatever, sure, thats fine, i can believe that...so that warrants a bunch preaching change doing this kind of enervating thing to our society...
sorry if my opinions are not appreciated, i honor everyones right to disagree

I disagree. That's not what I saw. There was a thread on it with hundreds of comments, on the Recommended list, by a "negdcom," apparently removed by management now because I can't find it. I saw tons of Obama supporters gone into a hysteria about it that seemed unreal, it really disgusted me, I really found it scary, it was like mass hysteria, over what a political operative might have said but actually did not say in a 15-year-old documentary, for crying out loud! I mean, there's people dying in Iraq, and they are all in an outrage over this faked part of a 15-year old movie. Over and over and over, a sort of hysteria, wanting to believe that the director is lying, wanting to believe it is all a plot, shooting down a few brave commenters who tried to beat some sense into the mob. For what?! Even if it was true, it's like 15 years ago. But it's not even true, which it wasn't, it wouldn't have meant jack shit. And all they had to do was rent the fucking movie to find out!
I'm sure glad they took down that thread, it was real creepy. I've lost all respect for quite a few Obama supporters here on TPMCafe after I read that thread. I'm glad they took it down, otherwise I'd be embarassed if anyone I recommended the site to saw it, it would reflect on me It proved to me there is some truth to the cultism charge, some of these people are so personally invested in love of Obama that they've gone totally wack and lost all rationality, it has nothing to do with this country or politics or the Democratic party, some of them just idolize that man like a god. It's crazy. Sheesh if some of the Obama supporters here were true political junkies instead of cult worshippers, they would have seen "The War Room" a long time ago and watched it several times--I bet Senator Obama did.
Really, I never thought I would see a TPM site descend into that kind of silly hysteria over nothing, it was sickening,

P.S. I voted for Obama but I would never ever call myself a "supporter" of him because that would put me in the club that self-identifies as such on blogs, and, my humble opinion, the majority of those that self-identify as an "Obama supporter" on the net are lacking all sense of objectivity and have gone way off in the deep end in the interpretation of what's going on in this primary. Many of them spin themselves dizzy, and I am often embarassed for them. I worry what's going to happen when these people wake up out of their fog or whatever it is, especially when they see Hillary and Obama working together again as members of the same party with very similar goals.

Like how the Clinton's 3rd Term supporters did with Wright? Took a few unrelated seconds and gnashed their teeth and wailed and assumed that 30 seconds of speech = 35 years of work. Or would that be like how the Clinton's 3rd Term campaign took Obama's comments at a private fundraiser and twisted them around to make them something they're not? Clinton's 3rd Term supporters were on board with that one.
Look, I didn't care about the video. I thought, that's from like a hundred years ago and you can't tell what he's saying from the movie anyway. I thought that everyone who got up in arms over this were complete jackasses. Anyone who recommended one of those blogs is a jackasses. Of course, I also think that anyone who says with a straight face, "I think Wright is a serious problem." Is an uber-jackass. I think that anyone who got offended over the "bitter" comment is an uneducated jackass.
Of course, the main culprit in all this bullshit is the media. The problem is that people with small minds that don't get much use get worked up over the silliest crap and tell us "it's important". Um, no...it's not, but thanks for showing how easily you get played by the media you profess to detest.

As quickly as it spread, that's as quickly that the liberal blogosphere backed up, looked at the evidence and decided there was no "there there". You say you're still seeing it -- it's a small smattering here and there. Remember, the Clintons called it a "conspiracy" and "libelous" with even quicker ferocity.
And for the record, it was not "doctored". You can stop spreading that particular untruth, please. It is unclear what was said by Kantor, but it was clear to me he was referred to the Bush White House. And we still don't know what he said in the second part of the clip.
That being said, we backed off almost immediately. And you can, too, if you are at all interested in fairness.

Keith Olbermann would not have given up his valuable wingnut-bashing airtime if the Clinton campaign hadn't crossed a line in their racist attacks on Senator Obama when he did his special commentary about Hillary. Over this election, I would never have thought in a million years that Bill Clinton would stoop so low as to say and do some of the outrageous racist things he has just to win, and I would not have thought that Hillary would allow it, but she has.
There is good reason that this video had not trouble fitting into believability because over this nomination race, the Clintons have gotten as low as you can go. It was only last week that Bill stupidly said (then denied the next day) that Obama was playing the race card on him!
So what's crazy is Clinton supporters trying to cover up and rationalize their candidate's blatant injection of racism against Barack Obama. Dejected Clinton supporters, like their candidate, attack like wild animals when cornered. As for the silly propaganda assertion by Cherry Grainer, you can't be serious. It was only yesterday that Clinton was threatening Congress like Bush in her 'you're either with us or against us' crazy line. Their only chance of winning (stealing) the nomination is purely by propaganda.
Watch Keith Olbermann's Special Report again for a reminder of just who is racist:

To blame this on "Obama supporters" is clearly a stretch, but you don't ever seem to be too big in the "fair" department around here.
You call us "Obamanuts" for believing something that could very likely to be true. That doesn't make us racist or evil, just human.
I have got a sick feeling about these guys since day one. I have found their down-home democrat act convincing. They act elitist, cold and willing do or say anything to win elections. Carville has shown that over and over. Snufalufagus proved that at the last debate, zero objectivity there or on his weekly program. I am sure these guys have said things that are every bit as crass and cruel as those things being attributed to them. It was easy to believe this story. I think that says more about them than about us.
This crew uses republican tactics to attain marginal victories and govern with zero vision as they allowed the country to tack severely right, despite being in the White House for 8 years. I think they are all way more part of the problem than they are part of the solution.
This thing got legs initially, with Obama supporters and elsewhere, because it ,b>felt true given what we have seen in this campaign so far and what we know about these guys in general.
That is the biggest tragedy for your candidate. She has run a campaign that would enable majority of democratic voters to believe horrible things about her and her staff, some true and some not true. She has ran a campaign that has validated just about every neocon attack she has faced down for the last 16 years. She has become that which she fought against. In using republican methods, she has irrevocably separated herself from a large portion of the voting public. She had a chance to win this thing from day one and didn't close the deal. She should have been offering Barack the VP slot following her crushing victories and positive message.
She went dirty at the drop of the hat and we are all paying the price, her supporters and Barack supporters alike.
When you play in the sewer, you're going to get splashed with shit.
PS: Why is a criticism of your candidate somehow a personal insult?
I just don't understand. I have really tried to tone my language down, but keep getting lumped in with some mythical "Obama Supporter" who breaths fire and hurls insults on every post. There are a handful of people who are unreasonable and gross here at TPM, but they are hardly a quorum in the Obama camp. Of late, we have understandably seen more angry Clinton people, but again I don't find them to be a majority with regards to ugly language, though they are all holding on to the same shrinking hope that Hillary might pull it out.
I support Barack Obama and will go out of my way to clear up misleading statements about him, but I don't take those misleading statements personally. He isn't me. The insults he bears have no bearing on me.
I would suggest a little more distance before your head explodes.

well, you go ahead and distance yourself from reality, i frankly do not care
so your reply is that its okay to be enthralled by racism cause the other guys suck real bad and have not been perfect little reductionist absurdist liberal doctrinaire...sorry you go ahead and wallow in your enjoyment of filth, all the while denouncing the filths of others
my head might explode if it got as full of hot air and gas as yours

It has nothing to do with racism. What the hell are you talking about? Even if the comments were true, I would consider it class warfare more than racism.
Given their history and tactics, racism is perhaps fourth or fifth on their reasons for taking out America's middle class. At most, it is used as a diversionary tactic. Cynical? Certainly, but not racist in the classic sense. They don't care enough about any of us to hate.
These guys are corporate elitists who happen to have a "d" next to their name. The only filth in this campaign has come from the good old Clinton boys who are running Hillary's campaign.
Perhaps you would join us here in reality rather than accusing everyone else of being deluded.

From Wonkette:
" MICKEY KANTOR TOTALLY CALLED INDIANA PEOPLE "SHIT": So maybe the "white niggers" part of that Mickey Kantor video was altered, but were Indiana's people the referent of his "shit" usage? Check out this review of The War Room from 1993: "Whether Carville and company are play-acting somewhat for the cameras becomes less important as the film progresses. One can only keep up an act for so long — especially in the throes of a campaign. Carville's tearful farewell speech to his staff as they close up just before the election, Stephanopoulos's frank talk with a potential blackmailer and a Mickey Kantor comment about the people of Indiana (when it looks as though Clinton's ahead in Dan Quayle's state) attest to this." Mickey Kantor called Indiana people "shit," so Hillary Clinton probably agreed or something"

If true, so? So that would make the case for you that Hillary as well as Obama actually find Reagan Democrats difficult? That's the big scoop you've got? Except there's a problem, that for Obama the words that make people think that came out of his own mouth recently, and in Hillary's case it was surrogates 15 years ago.
And what does that do for you? Whose vote does it win? What is your problem? Why is this so important to you? Can't you see that this is nothing even if worst scenario, a scenario that takes a hell of a lot of suspension of normal rationality to believe? That it would still get you nowhere and doesn't matter?
Try some meds maybe.

Fifteen years ago people in Indiana were mad about this film scene too.
Perhaps you should offer your meds to George Stephanopoulos since he asked the questions along with Charlie Gibson that only hardcore Clinton supporters and Republicans thought relevant. All of the hypocrisy of trying to go back to the issues only seems to come up when the tables are turned.

Too bad. I miss Herbkowitz , Zionista, Ellen and Moat. We could have used their intelligent comments to leaven this overwraught exchange between my side (Obama) and the other guys.
Come back ! Please!
Maybe some of them have and I've missed it. Hope so.

Hmmm, this seems similar to when many of the Clintonistas posted videos of Obama allegedly flipping Hillary off even though footage from the side showed he wasn't doing any such thing.

Exactly. Some stupid shit gets posted around here. We spent half the day discussing the very problem yesterday.
But I have a problem with sweeping generalizations. There were several Obama supporters who either stayed out of the thread entirely or tried to inject some reason into it.
And Lamont, I'm sorry you don't want to call yourself an Obama supporter. I'm proud to. It doesn't make me irrational or unobjective. Surely, there are some Obama supporters that meet your description, and there are some Clinton supporters that meet your description. With the sheer number of people on both sides, it's a mathematical certainty.

The most offensive part of that video is the weird high five that Kantor tries to give Stephanopolous. Who gives a high five with a fist?! What was he trying to do there?
Do we really want people in office who celebrate good news by giving awkward high fives with their fists?
How's the high five going to play in Indiana?
Think about it.

while i am on the subject, you remind me that this pimped up fake video is a twofer or even a threefor...
you make clinton supporters look like hypocrites, acting like they want indiana voters while cursing them and mocking them
second, you throw in the white n fakery and you get clinton people hating on blacks
thirdly, kantor is jewish, so there, for the zionist fear mongering whack jobs you get to make a jew into a sneering hater of white poor people and blacks
when you new age, new politics folks get through, let me know, i am hiding under the covers
if hillarys folks pulled anything remotely like this she would be shot at dawn on sunday on tv..but the oddobamacans keep on spinning, ignoring clear facts
i might be a white person, but i do know a little about racism and sexism, i have lived it and have a little knowledge of american history, so do not so easily blow off my take, since driving poor idiots like me away will see the dems lose ohio, penn, down to ruin...but the oddobamacans do not care, they will rejoice because they will have to pretend they won, they will not be able to face those of us who cautioned caution and a lack of rush to judgement
wow, anti-semitism, give aid and comfort to the klan, the neo=nazis, sliming a jew...you know, they are all so sinister, right fabooj?

I'm sure you were so evenhanded (ha!) when people were jumping up and down foaming at the mouth because OBAMA SNUBBED CLINTON!!!11ZOMG!!!. I'm sure you were level-headed (yeah right!) when crazy-assed mofos were going on and on and on about Obama flipping off Clinton even though it was disproven.
And what makes this all so laughable, is your last sentence. Still crazy, eh?

You can't blame an entire campaign for the wingnuts. You CAN blame them for things their candidate says--and especially repeats--when they apparently ignore it, as well as for supporting their candidates' policies.
Let's talk again about obliterating Iran....
