NYT, Stop Lying, PLEASE!!!!
Way to go, NYT! The paper to quote, if you want to look like a Fool.
This primary cycle, their political reporting is no better than blog spam.
Does the NYT know what it does to their credibility when their readers FIND OUT thatthey were deceived?
They built up a sterling reputation, but for the past few years has been steadily soiling it.
A couple of days ago, they ran a photo of an enormous crowd at Obama's rally in Oregon. They proclaimed it the largest he has had so far.
What's wrong with that?
Our great progressive newspaper left out one small detail: a FREE ROCK CONCERT preceded the rally. The bands were hugely popular locally, and the concert was advertised heavily at Indie rock sites on the web.
The NYT wanted to manipulate its readers into thinking all those thousands of people made the trip to the park just to bask in the golden aura of Barack Hussein Obama.
Former Times readers say they are turning to the Washington Post for news. They say Post coverage is slightly better. Not good enough, but could be worse.

Yeah, shameless for the Time to think anyone showed up for Obama. Was he buying shots of Crown Royal for everyone there, too? He could probably afford to with his donor base.

I agree! The Washington Post has mush more balance and insight, such as this political fact check:

The Decembrists were the opening act, Obama was the act. People came to see him, if they only wanted to listen to the Decembrists, they would have left after 45 minutes. And judging by his win in Oregon, it seems very plausible that 75,000 people came out to see him.

"[P]ast few years"? You were born ysterday, right?
Pull out a current history book and look up: "NY Times," "WMD," and "Judith Miller".
You know what really matters as concerns lies in the media -- including the "NY Times"? Their continuing to call torture "harsh interrogation techniques". Until the media stops telling THAT lie, the torture will continue, and the media will continue to morally complicit in perpetuating that war crime.
And you're worried about the "lie" of not reporting a rock concert? Clue: what Obama did to attract a crowd is nothing new. Politicians use all sorts of means to get a crowd to talk at, whether a chicken fry or live music.
So big whoop: Obams is -- I'm shocked, you're shocked, everybody must be shocked -- a politician.

The band wasn't complaining:
On stage right now are members of The Decemberists, a local-band-gone-big; their lead singer just told the crowd this was "the best opening gig we've ever had for sure." They also played a new song about Valerie Plame, the former CIA agent whose identity was famously revealed to reporters by the Bush Administration, ....

Hmmmmyes, and what's the average attendance for Decemberists concerts?
Shucks, Coachella -- a festival filled with tons of the hottest indie acts that gets near year-round coverage of some sort in scene press -- has a daily attendance somewhere around 60,000.
I never knew the Decemberists were so big! I don't think they ever knew it, either!!
