Genghis, your link goes to your other post "Better Reader Posts" and not to the story.
I wonder why that could be...
Please read that post, and will be made clear.
Oh no...this looks headed for the rec list.
Yessss!
3) Better recommendations. This is perhaps the most important change we can make. People are going to post crap. We can't stop them. But we don't have to recommend them. And all the technology in the world won't help the recommended list if we continue to recommend poor quality posts. If you see a post that has little journalistic merit, don't recommend it. If you see a post that you strongly agree with or which is written by someone you like, you should be more, not less, critical. Remember that your natural bias in such cases will be to recommend, so ask yourself whether it really deserves your recommendation on its merits. Do not think of yourself as waging a battle to put more pro-Obama posts on the list or to make sure that everyone hears the latest news about so-and-so.
By all means, if you haven't already done so, click on Genghis's link and recommend that post.
But if this post makes the "Most Recommended" list, then Genghis wins "Hypocrite of the Day."
Or maybe "Hypocrite I'd most like to have a beer with."
It does pose a conundrum, does it not. I was tempted to hit recommend because it made me laugh, but I would be loathe to disappoint Genghis by doing so.
I see now that "Hypocrite of the Day" is exactly what Genghis is aiming for.
Once you stop hypocrisy, you start dying.
quoth Albert Einstein
Hypocracy is a wonderful thing, and you can snuggle up to it on a cold night.
quoth Marilyn Monroe
Wal-mart . . . Do they like make hypocrites there?
quoth Paris Hilton
Is this meta-humor?
Or did you just undermine your previous post?
Or both?
The people who recomended this post without checking the link verified the premis that people recomend shit.
I recommend this:
"Last Friday, we compared the Clinton campaign to a shark that must continuously move forward in order to stay alive. Here's another muddled maritime metaphor that applies: that of a killer whale toying with a baby seal before inevitably eating it. Unfortunately for Clinton, she's the seal."
I would hope that supedelegates would not need this to be pointed out to them so explicitly.
Yesss!!! on the rec list.
The combination of meta-meta-meta-commentary and self-contradiction should finally create an endless logical loop, reducing all TPM content to an absolute singularity and pulling Genghis and Urbinato both through into the Matrix, where they will be trapped in an endless episode of Seinfeld.
Snark and substance, partisanship and objectivity, Obama and Clinton -- these oppositions are only illusions. They are the veil pulled over our eyes to blind us to the deeper truth . . .
Heyyyyy... Genghis - how'd you get your shirt to be all blinky?

I was thinking "Didnt you just make a posts about NOT doing this??" haha.
That's what his next post is going to say, with a link to this one.
His goal is to take over all ten slots on the recommended list, with posts that do nothing but chain all the way back to the "better posts" post. And it would be an improvement!
Oh man...that's freaking brilliant!
If he can do this, so that all ten recommended posts on electioncentral are written by Genghis, I'll pledge an extra $50 to the Obama campaign.
Yes he can!
Now that would really be obnoxious. I'll pass, though I encourage you to donate in any case. And it is brilliant.
If he does, would you please post a blog telling me that and then get it recommended a hundred times so I can donate another $50 to Obama too?
Can we have less of these undigested links to news items? *:o)
I rec'd this one, by the way. The other one is old shit.
The problem with this post is the lack of analysis. I read the entire post, start to finish, and don't know a damn thing more about P.J. Urbinato than I already knew before. Sooooo not recommending.
And why haven't Greg and Eric posted on this?!?!?!?
Yeah, and Eric said it was within the margin of error.

Geez, you sound as tired as I am.
You done good, sir.
Is there any interest in a similar sort of event for the Bay Area folks? I'm trying to think of a bar that would have election results on TV around here....
One of these days... but not on a school night. I'm over the hill in Reno, so I can't really scoot over for a weeknight get-together. DF's around there somewhere, so maybe he'll chime in.
Thanks... I was actually just about to pop into Firefox history to find the link. Responded over there.
Paige, when I did the PA results party, not many people from TPM showed up, but Obama supporters saw the event on mybo and came from all over the city. It was a fun event, despite the sad results, and I met some cool people. All I did was reserve space at a bar and publish the event. If you decide to do something like that, let me know. We can send out a joint message over the tpm-aholics list server on Monday.
(This goes for anyone else who wants to organize a party on tues.)
One of the improvements to the site I'd like to see is recommends that are weighted for irony. It might assuage some of the moral crises people are having over whether or not to recommend anti-recommendation posts.
An ironic recommendation (achieved by left-clicking ironically) would be weighted 50 percent or something. Like Guamians or Democrats Abroad casting primary ballots.
That super-delegates are going AGAINST the popular trend is enhancing the grassroots quality of the Clinton campaign. How ironic!
This only lends fuel to the idea that Obama is a front man, a construct for the powers that be.
Women -- particularly black women -- are shifting because they realize that they are the majority. The African American percentage of the vote particularly in North Carolina is going to be SUBSTANTIALLY altered by the defection of black women from the Obama camp.
Was the above a snark so clever that it looks like the poster is utterly clueless... or is it exactly what it looks like?
Here's an irony. This post is on track to get more recs than "Better Reader Posts".
OBAMA GETS ANOTHER SUPERDELEGATE
I came in here expecting a fab, well written post on how wonderfull the new delegate is for having endorsed Obama. I found the link to be a dud. Seriously, it won't load for me.
I believe that that should be: Liar, Stinker, Shirt on Blinker.
Honestly, the stuff that I'm seeing posted by our hosts offers so little that interests me of late, that I say Recommend with wild abandon! The only posts that keep me coming here are the Reader's Posts.
NC can't come soon enough. I feel like I'm in the ninth month of pregnancy...
Question for anyone who has the answer:
If I try to go back to my older posts, and click "More Entries," I get a Forbidden error. What's up with that? (All my blogs are post-TPM-changeover.)
I have the same problem. I told Andrew Golis about it, and he said that he would look into it.

I am honored to have bookended that set. Also, RenStimpy's comment would have been funnier if it had said "Tony Manero called" etc.

How late do you plan on staying at Revival? Bit of a schlep from DC, but I might be willing to undertake the journey if reasonably assured that I don't show up to an empty venue.
Oh, and nice shirt.

Are you really gonna wear that shirt?
This might require me dragging my butt to the City.
Will Lis be there?

She whined about it being a school night. Get on her case.
I will wear the shirt. It doesn't change colors in real life.

Lis, have you been drunk posting again?

I came in here expecting a fab, well written post on how wonderfull the new delegate is for having endorsed Obama. I found the link to be a dud. Seriously, it won't load for me.
