Nice to see him keeping the Kennedy Faith.
Heck...nice to see him speaking anytime, really.
Enjoy.

Hey Lis, thanks, I went by there today, but missed the beginning of his speech, so it was nice to see it.
Whoever shot this sure had a better seat then I did (that would be on the hill in the back beyond the field where they allowed us local rabble to congregate.)
:)

I figured you'd be there, workerbee.
Middletown isn't as close to Pelham, NY, as I'd like it to be, but anytime you want to meet would be fine by me. Check your TPMaholics messages, silly bee.

OK
If I'd known he would be replacing Senator Kennedy sooner, I would have had you all over.
I live about a mile from where he spoke.

The fact that this was posted at youtube by his campaign could open him up to certain criticism as this wasn't a campaign stop or supposed to be political in any way and he was only there because of Ted Kennedy's health scare so in a sense he's profiteering when he was just supposed to be helping out a friend.

I don't think most folks would see it that way.

First let me respond to you Jonze- probably you watch too much broadcast news because you often apply excessive punditry. You remind us the calculated motives and subsequent consequences. Don't take it too hard, I think thanks to 24/7 lame time killing diagnosis of a every move from figer flick to eye wink, we have become replicas of what we see on our 24/7 cable news.
Probably, pat buchanan wouldn't like it, but again doesn't like the fact Obama isn't white enough, but who cares really. Most people don't care such inept and anal criticism.
It was a good speech, nothing spectacular but a good speech.

People will look for anything to tear him down. If he didn't post it those same folks would find something else to complain about. Maybe his haircut, his dribble, or his jumpshot.

Weigh the good and the bad together, Jonze.
If Obama did this quietly, no one would notice.
The people who will view this video on YouTube will primarily be his supporters and other Dems. The campaign didn't try to publicize this with the MSM, but it did disemminate the video in, arguably, a very smart way:
1. It posts on YouTube for FREE.
2. Its primary audience will be Obama supporters & Dems.
3. Those ppl like Ted Kennedy too.
4. Many of those ppl have shown themselves to be great donors.
5. Cancer research always needs funding.
Didn't watch the speech, don't know if he asked ppl to donate; but I'm willing to bet that, nationally, they are donating more with the news of Ted Kennedy, and that some of the ppl who watch the video will donate too.

Youtube isn't a politics only site.

I don't agree, either.
I think a lot of people are just curious to see what the next president of the U.S. thinks, how he sees the world, and what he expects to do in office.

Some of us associated with Wesleyan who were unable to attend are grateful to have this speech posted. Posting it was the right thing to do, whatever contorted interpretations the punditry might come up with.
His comment during the speech, directed at the graduates, calling them "you overachievers" made me a little nervous. He needs to take care about those value-laden generalizations (such as previous observations about gun owners and such). No point giving the Republicans more to work with, negative-wise.

Quick to add, the speech was terrific. Very effective, talking about his own college years, the indecision, etc., as was his call to service. He was so gracious about the Kennedys, obviously a lot of heartfelt gratitude to that family. Best commencement speech I've ever heard.

Cool, the pics made it look like we were sitting on top of each other, LOL. It wasn't quite that crowded. I was higher up. It also made us appear closer then we were.
Fun day. Holiday feel. Lots of us walked up from the parade together.
I didn't know Teds son broke down.
:(
What a hard thing.

Watching the speech, listening to what Obama kept saying, remembering what Clinton always says in her speeches, shows one of the biggest differences between the two:
Obama keeps saying "WE need YOU!"
Clinton keeps saying "You need ME!"

Thanks for the video. Loved the speech, particularly the tribute to Ted's service.
