The End (For Hillary Clinton)

After last night's crushing defeat for Hillary Clinton, it is inevitable that she will lose the nomination. Obama has proven himself the victor, and even now, Hillary Clinton is realizing it.

It is true, she could stay in the race longer, but never before have I seen such a shift in momentum against her. Even Obama's 11 straight wins after Super Tuesday could not bring such claims from the places they now are. By that, I mean...

Never before have I seen a prominent media personality conclude that Barack Obama is the presumptive nominee the way Tim Russert did last night.

George McGovern, a prominent Hillary supporter, has called on her to drop out and will endorse Obama. Never before has such a statement been made by a Hillary supporter.

There are rumors flying that General Wes Clark, another prominent Hillary Support, privately told her to drop out. He denies the claim, but there's no denying that this raises questions.

Her usual post-primary email to supporters was subdued, unenthusiastic, and leaving one to wonder what she's thinking.

Tonight's victory in Indiana was close, and a margin that narrow means just one thing: every single thing you did to help us win in Indiana helped make the difference.

Every call you made, every friend you spoke to about our campaign, every dollar you contributed made tonight's victory possible. And I couldn't be more thankful for your hard work.

Every time we've celebrated a victory, we've celebrated it together. And tonight is no exception. This victory is your victory, this campaign is your campaign, and your support has been the difference between winning and losing.

Thank you so much for making this campaign possible. Let's keep making history together.

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

And now, most recently, Hillary made the statement at a press conference,

Well, I'm saying in this race until there's a nominee. And I obviously am going to work as hard as I can to become that nominee.

I can't help but sense a certain loss in her statements. No longer is there the sense of excitement she tried so desperately to convey before, even in other defeats.

And, really am left with concluding that it's over for her. She is done. Her campaign has hit rock-bottom, and I can only sit and wait for her to suspend her campaign.

She also released reports that she loaned her campaign $6.1 Million to compete with Obama's TV ads and campaigning in Pennsylvania, Indiana and North Carolina. Total she's loaned to her campaign out of her own pocket = $11.1 Million. Amount Obama has loaned to his out of his own pocket = $0.

Yes, there are upcoming primaries in West Virginia and Kentucky, where she's expected to win. But for some reason, those just don't seem to feel that important anymore. And, of course, there's Oregon. By May 20th, Obama will have reached a majority of the Pledged Delegates, destroying Hillary's chances of ever overtaking him. And if it doesn't officially end in the next few days, it will end then.

It's $6.4 Million and total = $11.4 Million, not 6.1 and 11.1 respectively.

According to an article on the Huffington Post,

Hillary Will Drop Out by June 15.

I don't believe it. At that point, 99% of the primary expense is over, and she still has a lot of funds that she can spend on the general. There's no point in dropping out between the last primary and the convention. She can (and probably will) coast until the convention, at which point it will end in the first round in favor of Obama.
