Was the "DC Madam" Murdered?

When the body of Deborah Jeane Palfrey was found hanging in a shed behind her mother's home, my first thought was how suspicious the timing and circumstances were in light of her recent conviction.  Why commit suicide if you can eventually obtain a book and movie deal like Heidi Fleiss?  Apparently, I'm not alone.  Fellow TPMers, what's your take on this tragedy?

Yes, I am sure that the Obama supporters will tie this to the Clinton campaign.

Sheesh... get a grip

But of course it was Hillary, Bill and Chelsea Clinton. They are murderers after all, aren't they. I hear a new and improved Kantor video (shocking revelations!!) has world premier on Youtube tomorrow to put any doubt to rest.

Nobody's blaming the Clintons (unless Bill's name was one of them she could have spilled, and we would already have heard of that, wouldn't we?). But there's certainly fodder for conspiracy theorists.

According to the guy who was helping her write her book, she'd talked of suicide before:

"She said, `I am not going back to prison. I will commit suicide first,'" Moldea said.

And yet, that's the only source I'm finding that she was suicidal/depressed:

Her attorney Preston Burton said at the time [of her conviction] that Palfrey "is, I think, holding up fine. "She's with her mother."

And while some sources are quoting how she vowed not to go to prison, even for one day, the full context of that quote isn't at all suicidal:

"I'm sure as heck not going to be going to federal prison for one day, let alone four to eight years, because I'm shy about bringing in the deputy secretary of whatever," Palfrey told ABC last year when she released phone records that revealed some of her clients. "Not for a second. I'll bring every last one of them in if necessary."

So... theorize away.

I wonder why a person would choose such and elaborate method of suicide such as hanging themselves in this day and age. I mean, the margin of error and possibility of living with paralysis is too great. It seems to me that hanging in this modern age is about staging a production. An enemy would like that production to be viewed in such a gory context.

For this reason, I don't believe she killed herself.
