HUGE BLUNDER!!!: McCain accidentally leaks campaign strategy on website!

Rick Davis has a great little powerpoint thingy up on the McCain sight showing why they're going to win, it's full of wonderfully deceptive graphics, but fortunately they included a pause button so you can freeze them and guffaw.

Got 13 minutes and a resistance to brainwashing? Hop on over and check it out! Get some golf gear.

I made it halfway through, then he started talking about the electoral map and the first surprise state they're gonna take is CA, so I chortled and turned it off.  But you fact checker types out there should get on it.

No mention in the first half of the real strategy, smear and fear.

It's not a blunder. They invite you to watch it and contribute. You think there is some secret strategy to beat Obama? They seem pretty confident to me. They are particularly confident about taking parts of Appalachia off the table. Or maybe they just want Obama to think they are going to take Applalachia off the table. You advising Obama now?

You advising McCain now?

Billy, your subtle protect-Johnny brilliance is marred only by your transarent selectivity, and your obvious propensity for pouncing on the first comment whenever McCain is remotely dissed...

Do you wait patiently at your keyboard for a new anti-McCain post?

I shuldn't tell you this, but someone recently offered a couple McCain-trashing posts deliberately to see if you were waiting in the wings, and lo and behold your were there every time. You ALWAYS seem to be first for McCain.

Don't you realize, that kind of evidence can be called reliable, and since no one can sub-comment before you then, you remain forever etched in the archives as the quickest McCain defender on the blog.

Looks like someone "on assignment" to me... smart enough to parse his words to hide the real agenda but dumb enough to do it with such responsive gusto, we can see that hidden agenda despite the careful wording, just by going back to see all the times you were the firstest with the mostest...

I agree that this is not a blunder. In fact, I think its crucial to McCain that this particular presentation gets as big an audience as it can TODAY, as many of the claims they're making in the pitch won't last.

Notice the repeated emphasis on "disaffected Democrats."

That's right, it's far from an accidental leak. This so-called "Strategy Briefing" is the featured item at the McCain campaign's main page.

Well that was obviously a joke I thought.

And I agree that overconfidence would be the worst possible stance for the Obama people (of which I am not one, yet.) I for one am banking on Barack and the Daves (Axe and Plouffe,) to continue to have game, because they have rpven that they are GOOD LISTENERS.

The point of my headline was that this is NOT their strategy, this is what they're telling us is the strategy. The real strategy is smear Obama and Michelle, pray for a well timed terrorist attack or Iranian war, and failing those two, to try to go down fighting with dignity intact by DC standards. And play the race card but only under the table.

The power point was a sales pitch for a Ford Pinto, it was slimy, but the real joke of it is how ham fisted it was, I don't think a McCain inclined independent would buy much of it.

I don't know. Billy seems convinced.

"The real strategy is smear Obama and Michelle, pray for a well timed terrorist attack or Iranian war, and failing those two, to try to go down fighting with dignity intact by DC standards. And play the race card but only under the table."

Boy, howdy, I sincerely wish I could have put those words together, that is about as concise and perceptive a paragraph as one might find anywhere.

Congrats, kellyo101, and please join the Obama camp SAP, we more bright people like you in the fold.

I heard some Republican strategist spit ut the disaster scenario as if it was part of a potential strategy, actually like it was not a wild card, but a face card in the deck they intend to deal with for this election. It gave me this bad feeling that they really ARE willing to trigger some terrible event just to maintain no-bid, book-cooking, CEO-managed government.

Or am I just being apranoid?

Maybe I should have said "Pray for a game changer" to protect more sensitive souls. Sorry if that was out o' bounds to anyone.

And let's not pretend, if we're in the reality based community, that Obama's strategy doesn't include hoping McC continues to look old and continues to be inept at reaching any audience whatsoever, paving the way for a graceful walk to the inaugural.

You should have watched further. A little after the CA stuff, they make it absolutely clear that they're after Clinton's base, complete with county maps of the "Democrat" primary in Ohio and PA.

I would hope that the "Democrat" party thing would clue some people in, but it's obviously still the silly season...

user-pic

Is it safe to say that Clnton's base is passionately pro-choice, if they have an issue they all agree on, it is that one?

So taking that logic one step further, can we assume that any of Clinton's base who jump to McCain have actually put the agony of defeat above the integrity of convictions?

I would like to hear someone argue a justificatin for this apparent disconnect between the realities and the delusions. I mean, aren't the Appy voters who supported Clinton aware that she is the ideological antithesis of their God, Guns, and Gays entrenchment?

I'm SO confused!!! I thought Hillary's base was leftie and centrist women, not evangelical fundamentalists?

McCain's strategy hardly matters, because it's John McCain we're talking about. He won't take California, he won't take North Carolina, he won't take Florida--hell, he may even lose Texas. The fact is, John McCain is the worst candidate the Republicans have fielded since Herbert Hoover. This is going to be a rout.

I love all this California talk. If they think they actually have any chance here, that is great news. Cindy's going to have to sell a shitload of beers to put up ads in California. That's only going to take resources away from other places. So I say, hey, let them think CA's in play all they want.

Why am I reminded on Rove/Bush's exuberant confidence right before the '06 election?

user-pic

...you mean the election where the Dems took back both houses of Congress?

Now that the fundies who rallied to get Bush close enough to steal it once again, are aware of Rove's "f*&^%$g faith-based" 'tude, it might be a good idea to consider new models to guage this election by.

Rove was also very confident about his downticket "math"...

And that wasn't very accurate, now was it?
