Obama's election to lose - it is the economy, stupid.
What is Obama doing? He has nothing going about our present energy crisis. He's got to say something that gives us some hope! By Oct. the voter will clearly see the winter coming and fuel prices will still be worse. Obama saying there's nothing we can do because of supply and demand is not a great answer. I keep waiting to hear something from him that will help the poor and middle class voters. How about some mass transit or something......

Where have you been? Obama is going to revoke the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000.
This act (previously proposed and turned down in both houses) was put into motion by McCain's Mr Black and added to an appropriations bill in the 11th hour without so much as a reading, needless a debate or review, and signed into law by Bush. It deregulated the market and is why we are where we are today.
It removed caps on trading and allowed trading of US commodities overseas. It is why we got Enron, sub-prime mortgages and the high cost of oil.

It would have been signed into law by Clinton, otherwise, I agree. If you haven't heard Barack talk about our energy future, you haven't been listening very closely. Here is a link to get you started. He talks about education first.

Obama needs to start immediately thinking about the near future. People will be suffering as soon as he takes office next January!

Matthew Yglesias frequentely talks about Obama and mass transit. Obama seems to take alternative transportation very seriously, recentely he met with bike builders and seems to understand the issue very well.
