STOP EATING SALMON - PLEASE!
To its credit, the NYT has a fine op ed on America's wild salmon. We are eating it to extinction. And boutiful farm salmon are helping kill it off. This piece by Taras Grescoe is worth a read. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/09/opinion/09grescoe.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
And if you have the paper edition, do take a look at Krugman's thoughts on Obama and Clinton. Even the know-it-all's here might learn a little something.

Please, don't everybody chime in at once!
I know how much environmental conservation means to you Obama supporters!
You are true progressives, through and through.
Aren't you?

I think it would probably be more effective if they told people to stop fucking, but alright, I'll stop eating salmon. I can't wait until they tell us to stop eating potatoes. Probably around 2150, when the world population hits 10 billion.
The fact is, we're hitting the limits of what the planet can support. It's not salmon--it's everything.

YOU can eat all the salmon you want.
They douse it with pesticides to kill the tick
infestation caused by overcrowding.
Pesticides might do your brain good.

I don't have a paper edition of anything. I'll assume you don't either, so how do you know about Krugman?

No need to be insulting, Lute. I'm guessing most Dems care about environmental issues to some extent or another, but when you include a slam about "the know-it-alls" it doesn't really make people want to participate.
For a terrific look at, well, food, I recommend Marion Nestle's books, FOOD POLITICS and WHAT TO EAT. At the very least, it will make you doubly determined to elect a Dem before the Republicans poison us to death.

The enemy to the enviroment in a lot of situations is US. If we could step away from the table or not order the exotics that we seem to crave for when we enter a eating place we would do less harm all around. Salmon is just one case. There are many others.
