The New March to War
A resolution has been introduced in
the House of Representatives calling for a naval blockade of Iran. The
resolution (H.CON.RES 362) has gained at least 169 co-sponsors over the
last 3 weeks. It demands that the President impose "stringent
inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains
and cargo entering or departing Iran." A Senate resolution (S.RES 580)
is moving with similar speed.
This resolution is a unilateral measure acting outside of the established international efforts to contain Iran's nuclear ambitions. It undercuts the effectiveness of those international efforts at a time when we can least afford to show less than a united front. In addition, a naval blockade is internationally recognized as an act of war. Such a blockade would leave Iran little choice but to attack, leading to a third war for the United States.
We must work within the international framework to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. If war is necessary, then we will need the support of the international community.
Call your congressman and your Senators, and tell them to oppose these resolutions!

Sorry about that. Apparently the search link is only good for a limited time. Try http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=hc110-362

What's going on here? Does no one on this site care about this?

Deja Vu all over again:
1) Accusations of clandestine and/or provocative doings on the part of Iran = accusations of Sadam's "WMDs" and alleged "collusion with Al Qaeda" in planning 9/11;
2) Attention on FISA vote and attendant uproar, right now, obscures awareness of, and protest about, blockade = focus on, and protest of, seeking votes at the UN (without hard evidence of WMDs) obscured nearly-completed preparation for imminent war deployments;
3) Affirmation of Presidential power to initiate war (hidden in FISA Bill) = original, blindsiding assertion of that power.
FISA is about more than Telecomms, immunity, and the dilution of our mandated right to privacy. It is also about legitimizing warmongering, Part II.

Yeah, I think everybody eagerly anticipate the fall of America as "United States."
Indeed, it will be schadenfreude on a radical new level.
To say nothing about our out-house flower in the middle-east; y'know, that racist little state that likes to call itself a "democracy." (L0L)

Gary Ackerman, D/NY.
It is questionable whether this democrat is an "America First" or not.
Probably not.
More like an "Israel first" kind of American. (A traitor...)
