US Presidential Election or American AIPAC Idol?

Isn't it a shame that all three candidates for the US next president have to appear in front of AIPAC and sing essentially the same song and worriedly wait to see who better pleases the Israel-Appointed judges?
Isn't it unpatriotic to see that a lobby has such a power that all three candidates of the United States enthusiastically appear in front of its judges and try their best to please them?

"In their 2006 working paper The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer and Harvard University Kennedy School of Government professor Stephen Walt accuse AIPAC of being "the most powerful and best known" component of a larger pro-Israel lobby that, they say, distorts American foreign policy. They write: "AIPAC's success is due to its ability to reward legislators and congressional candidates who support its agenda, and to punish those who challenge it. ... AIPAC makes sure that its friends get strong financial support from the myriad pro-Israel PACs. Those seen as hostile to Israel, on the other hand, can be sure that AIPAC will direct campaign contributions to their political opponents. ... The bottom line is that AIPAC, which is a de facto agent for a foreign government, has a stranglehold on the U.S. Congress. Open debate about U.S. policy towards Israel does not occur there, even though that policy has important consequences for the entire world."" (from wikipedia)

I was thinking the same thing today that it's a dreadful and dangerous shame. Thank you for posting this.

this is the first time in decades I have actually found myself saying I could care less about Israel's problems...they're not the USA's problems. grow up and get a life. amazing.

Well, Israeli problems are not U.S. problems, but some of them do translate into U.S. problems. For example, Palestinian problem => Arab hostility => oil prices => U.S. economy.

Your analysis is flawed.
What does Arab hostility have to do with Iran? Iran is different from Arab world and the cause of 9/11.

If you think about it, supporting Israel has brought too many costs for US. Oil prices is one of them. Your phrase should be written as Supporting Israel=>Muslim World Anger=>Terrorism, Oil crisis, Global War, ..

Remember, Bush system tries to attach Iran to 9/11 terrorism. Iran if it is supporting any terroristic act is against Israel. None has been against US after Shah was admitted to US and the hostage taking crisis occured
