Americans are hurting. It's time to increase capacity.
The nation is in crisis. Across the country, Americans are struggling to cope. The situation grows worse by the day, and there is no end in sight. But there is a common sense solution that could provide significant relief to those hard-working families who need it most.
It's time to increase our capacity. Now.
We can't waste precious time with empty promises of alternative solutions. Science isn't magic. Let's stick to what we know--what has worked for years.
Sure, it will take time. But what else can we do? Sit idly by as the crisis worsens further, and hope that science will soon provide some miracle that solves all our problems?
That's not what this country is about. This country is about action. And action is what we need now more than ever.
The time for political gamesmanship is over. Supply must be increased.
Congress must act now to increase our iron lung capacity.

The only 'capacity' you would increase is the capacity for the oil companies to ship more oil overseas and increase their account balances.

Chase, I respect your opinion but consider that the way this debate is being framed might not be accurate. That's not such a stretch when you consider how much we've been misled by this administration.
If you feel this strongly about the issue, I think it might be worth your while to watch this Charlie Rose/Amory Lovins interview.

You might feel differently after watching it. Or at the very least, you'll learn even more about the subject.

wait, was your post sarcasm? Polio vaccine?

I'm usually sympathetic to people who don't pick up on sarcasm. These days, it's hard to tell. It really is.
But the post doesn't mention oil once.
Now, to explain, and thus kill, the joke,
Those who support additional oil drilling (which is, at best, a treatment for the symptoms of our energy crisis) use the argument that we must rely on common sense and stick to what we know works, rather than depending on the 'false promise' of alternative solutions that scientific research may provide.
If this were the prevailing attitude of the 1950s, we would be living in a world in which polio still existed--though, of course, those with the disease are treated well thanks to our unrivaled supply of iron lungs.
