George W. Bush Sewage Plant
The Bushit hits the fan today as San Francisco successfully nominated for November a new ballot naming a sewage plant after George W. Bush in honor of the stinking mess he left the country. I would think that most Americans would like to be purged of Bush's legacy but it seems this bid to commemorate the Decider is gathering strength as a serious bowel movement. No doubt the White House is already flushed with excitement over the prospect in anticipation of Bush's deserved seat in American history.

SAN FRANCISCO - A measure seeking to commemorate President Bush's years in office by slapping his name on a San Francisco sewage plant has qualified for the November ballot.
The measure certified Thursday would rename the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.
Supporters say the idea is to commemorate the mess they claim Bush has left behind.

The motion to pass the ballot might have been stuck if not for the diligence of the movement's backers who accumulated 12,000 signatures. McCain, not to be left behind, enthusiastically endorsed the idea, "It will give a whole new meaning to "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. Imagine the proud patriotic sense of mission accomplished for every American after each visit as they pay direct tribute to President Bush."
The Republican Party is overjoyed at the concept and is designating its own political WMDs - Waste Management Departments - to service the said plant and to get other heavily populated cities to come on board.

I was delighted when I heard about the proposition. How appropriate!
Now, I'm not so sure.
Remember Grover Norquist's project to have civil works in each of the fify states to be named after Ronald Reagan?
I don't think naming public works, be they highways, airports, or wastewater treatment facilities, after living partisan heroes or villians is a good idea. It tends to increase the divide in this country we need to heal over.
But then again, we have MLK boulevards, Cesar Chavez Avenues, FDR on our dimes, etc....
The wastewater plant though is pushing that envelope in a new way: defamatory memorialization.

More childish nonsense from liberals who think they gain something by poking Republicans in the eye. Pathetic, and another reason I won't visit SF.

The Democrats will never impeach George Bush for his lies and war crimes, so I'm not surprised that citizens are taking matters into their own hands. War crimes, torture, lies leading to an invasion and occupation of another nation, and now the economic devastation. They all go unpunished. Nixon has been under impeachment for far lesser crimes. Childish? Only to die-hard Republicans. This is satire, humiliation, and a non-violent grassroot way to tell Dubya in a loud, clear voice what Americans think of him. Sadly, this is all we have left to have our voices heard about this shameful period of American history under the Unitary Executive, the closest America came to a dictatorship. George W. Bush is cocky, unrepentent, supercilious and still convinced that "history" would vindicate him. He is toxic to a majority of us, and this is the only way to make it clear to him for now.
