Inaccurate reporting or actual hubris?
According to today's Guardian (UK)
"The Democratic hopeful has promised to give "a clear message that America intends to continue to show leadership, but our style of leadership is going to be less unilateral, that we're going to see our role as building partnerships around the world that are of mutual interest to the parties involved".
I hope the message is going to be that `if he is elected, then...`
If anything's going to bring him down on this trip it's going to be hubris. Rove et al are determined to pin this image on him - the last thing they need is his cooperation. He already made on gaffe in that interview in Jordan talking about himself as President before he corrected himself and said `if`

Considering McCain's huge gaffe today regarding surge 'timing' and his disgusting accusation about Obama would rather lose war than lose election, pretty sure Obama's immediate correction of his statement - 'IF' interjection - is not to newsworthy.
And yet, you felt the need to post about it!
Hmmmmm. What could possibly be your motive? Please, advise. Thanks.

This is astoundingly trivial

McCain talks about himself as President all the time. 'When I'm President', 'By the end of my first term', 'in 2013 I will have brought most of the troops home', 'When I'm in the White House', and on and on..

This fits the definition of "excessive concern."
What, exactly, is a Presidential candidate supposed to do? Talk about what he'll do when he's President, of course.
John McCain references his first term, his results in 2013, etc.etc. all the time. Hillary Clinton did it all the time too. So what? If they aren't confident enough to say "when I win", then they won't win. It's a little far along in the game to be expressiing this kind of doubt.
One last thing. Personally, I hope Karl Rove gets massively involved in McCain's campaign.
