John McCain Knows
Yes, I finally understand why everyone should vote for John McCain. Because he "knows."
He "knows" how to win wars.
He "knows" how to catch Osama bin Laden.
He "knows" how to stop political corruption.
He "knows" how to fix our economy.
Wait! I finally got it!
John McCain "knows" everything.
But he's not going to tell us what he knows.
He's not going to tell us how he's going to accomplish all these magical acts of military, economic and political legerdemain.
He's not going to tell us what he knows.
That's for him to "know" and us to find out - in January 2009 - the hard way.
Clever strategy.
And it will work... on idiots.
But this, along with a free-swinging "honorable" campaign of Obama bashing, smearing and demonizing, seems to be his campaign strategy.
What are we going to do about it?

Of course, if you ask "John, how do you know?" you'll be called "arrogant, audacious, elitist, out of touch, egomaniacal, messianic, self-centered, presumptuous, preening, vain, 'too cute for school,' 'too cute by half,' uppity, out of your 'place,' incapable of understanding, uneducated, unwilling to listen, self-important, non-deferential" and the list goes on.

Let's ask anyway. I've been called worse.

If you ask John McCain to detail his plans for accomplishing anything, you might even be called the NYTimes editorial board.

The point of this post is that nobody is asking him to be explicit. He can stand there and say he "knows" all day long, and eventually, people will start to believe it.
It's time to push back and challenge him to back up his boasts, because that's all it is - empty boasting that does not expose his warped strategies to any scrutiny.

McCain's "knowing what he has to do" is similar to Nixon's much-touted 1968 "secret plan to end the war in Vietnam", which, we found out, involved lots of bombing, more dead American kids, and resignation in 1974, leaving Gerald Ford to preside over the final withdrawal of US personnel.
I suspect it's from the same playbook, and would go just as well. Not this time, instead let's show that we can in fact learn from experience.

Agreed. And it won't fool those of us who are paying attention. Its the vast majority who aren't paying attention that worry me if he isn't challenged. Hopefully Obama will do that, but we the people need to do whatever we can, too.

"Its the vast majority who aren't paying attention . . . ."
I have KNOW idea whether the "vast majority" are or are not paying attention. Perhaps you have connections at the NSA who keep you up to date on that point?

And please go after ABC. This post mentions another disgustingly biased and unnecessary attack on Obama from ABC - again. I am beginning to equate them with Fox in my head. Disreputable assholes.

ABC also played a critical role in making the NAFTA-gate issue an issue (I forget the details but know that was my conclusion at the time) and - as best I could tell - it was the first news source to reference the Rev. Wright comments and mention the infamous tape ................ without ever saying where it came from, who put it together. That's always bothered me, that there's been no curiosity about WHO put that cherry-picked loop of taped vignettes together.
I'm not in the least excusing Rev. Wright, certainly not his later comments, or saying that some of the statements on the tape don't go way beyond the pale. BUT it surely akes a difference whether one first hears his "God damn America" statement stuffed in between other outrageous, offensive statements OR in the full context, as a quotation from someone else in the middle of a rather pedestrian sermon. But the person or persons who 'shaped' the public's first perception of Wright has never been identified or even sought.
When the whole thing broke, I started poking around to find out 'how' it broke, and the best I could find, was mention of the tape and quotes from it in Jake Tapper's "Political Punch" before it was mentioned anywhere else, even on Fox news. Perhaps there was an explanation that I missed, but I never saw any statement of how it came about that Tapper learned of the tape.
Since then I've become increasingly skeptical of the reports on ABC site and, must admit, wind up avoiding it. Which is probably the worst thing to do. So........ how does one "go after" ABC?
