Why is Florida's gay governor, Charlie Crist announcing his engagement?
Yes, it's true. Charlie Crist has announced that wedding bells are in his future after a whilwind courtship of only 9 months. And surprisingly, Crist's partner-to-be is a woman.
This can mean only one thing. Crist will be John McCain's running mate. After 30 years as an unmarried gay man, he has found a woman who will provide him with the cover he needs in the Republican party.
Either that, or he's marrying her for her money. She's got a lot more of it than he does. That worked for McCain, so it would only raise his respect for Crist.

Had exactly the same thoughts. Never liked Charlie. No. Noting to do with his sexual orientation. Everything to do with his lack of ethics, pandering and thumbing his nose at the constitution and his constituents.
If and I repeat IF he is McCain's VP - that means only one thing - Repubs are very worried. In a state of panic. They need Florida at any cost! (Of course 'at any cost' pretty much applies to all their political goals.)

Crist's romantic life has been bizarre to say the least. Although only married once, this is his 5th engagement! Yes, #5.
The current 9 month courtship has lasted longer than his first marriage, which ended in divorce after only 6 months!
Maybe someone can tell us exactly what the problem that Charlie has when he gets romantically involved with women. I guarantee that there is a stall in an airport men's room with his name on it.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Charlie's sexual orientation, but we don't need one more hypocritical Republican politician lecturing us on morality - which to Republicans means sexual behaviour exclusively & not business ethics, destruction of human life in wars, destruction of the planet, treatment of the poor, etc., etc.
It would bother me that the Republicans might be the first to nominate a gay politician for national office.

Yes, I think that the strategy is to have him married so the can deny it.
"Lie. Deny. Defy." That's been their strategy on these things for a long time.
