More Virtual Worlds Madness
Well, it had to happen. The next step.
Teleport from one virtual world to another:

And read all about it:

I somehow find it hard to visualize John McCain tromping around a virtual world, but I suspect that Obama will fit in just fine. I expect to visit his Second Life re-election campaign HQ by next election cycle, and by then things will be far more interesting, visually, than a few cartoony avatars.

Wow. I haven't paid attention to this for awhile. This is really insane. You can buy real estate, thus limiting access to and privatizing a virtual world. Very Republican concept. When they figure out a way to take feedback from the world and loop it back to the players in a convincing way, we're all in a lot of trouble.
Consider the possibilities when you include DSSP, virtual reality/interreality, etc.

Yeah, all of this is the tip of the iceberg. I expect there to be "augmented reality" VR goggles hooked to iPhone and other smartphones, that use GPDS tracking to synch your movement in real life and virtual worlds. Niven and Barnes explored this in their DreamPark series, and another augmented reality novel, SnowCrash, was the inspiration for Second Life in the first place.
