It is difficult to understand how the editors of the LAT decided to print that article. Its argument seems to be centered on the concept that, since Sens. Obama and McCain agree that murder is bad and we should continue to observe Mothers Day in May, the two would lead similar administrations. Jejune.
Even the facts it presents are incorrect, particularly WRT Iraq.
The article, like much of what passes for journalism in the MSM these days, is an embarrassment to its author, its editor, and the publication upon which it was dropped, leaving a stain.
Further, these polls, coming too soon for the the effects of Sen. Obama's self-revelations to shake out in the mind of the electorate, are effectively meaningless.
Why don't we give it a few weeks before we panic or gloat?

Take away the media bias and put facts to those polled about McCain's reversal of EVERY 'core belief' he's ever had and Obama's numbers would be 15 points higher.
The media doesn't want the race to be one-sided. no one will watch if Obama is seen to be out-distancing McCain by 15 points. And so they do what the can to make it look as close as possible.
Sad really, but not as sad as your trolling self. What's it like being such a loser? Can you post on that, because I'd like to read it. How your candidate is such a scumbag and how he's controlled by others. The number of times he's been asked his stance on an issue to say he'll have to get back to them later. later why? Who's stance is it, his or someone else's? Who is this someone else and do we want THEM in the White House??
Really, who bother here if you hate Democrats and our candidate so much?

See the comment below to the other denial response, your response is that the media is to blame, and not underlying facts.
You remind me of Cheney who was saying that if the media in the US would cover the war favorably that the Itaqi's would tune in, learn english, and agree that the invasion was a good thing.

This adds a lot to the level of discussion.

Re read your comments and recall the denial of facts that the GOP clung to in Iraq. It waas all about discrediting the messenger, or wait and see.
But the facts as resulting in the polls imply something else.
That non-democrats that supported Obama are GONE.
I'm sure that there are GOP who despite the facts cling to their belief as well.

I'm not clear about whether you are defending the LAT article or your position on the polls. All I can do, in either case, is re-phrase my earlier comment.
The LAT article is a foolish characterization. The polls are probably accurate but not particularly reflective of how the public attitudes will settle WRT Sen. Obama's recent unfortunate behavior.

The polls are not going to give us a reliable indicator of Sen Obama's support this year. They are basing their projections on models that do not take in to account the fact that the Democrats are groing. FL has registered 106,508 new Democrats compoared to 16,686 new GOPers. Your candidate don't stand a chance. FISA will not be the issue of thye day in November.

Interesting but you seem to think that these were not independents and libertarians forced to choose between signing republican or democrat to participate in the primaries.
I'll also concede the poll is not on the eve of the election.
But I will also point out that it will not be democrats or republicans who decide the next election for POTUS.
It will be the independents and libertarians.
And I'm just going back to the point that the only thing these people disliked more than big government was big government spying on them.
I think that this will be looked back on as a critical mistake in Nov.
I also had people reply earlier that there would be no drop before it had happened, as Democrats they just didn't get it.
I'm very much a libertarian and a moderate and a registered republican because if I don't choose a party I don't get to vote.
Rush got this about libertarians and independents, saw the numbers trending to Obama and encouraged people to support Hillary.
Now the FISA issue is off the table, you have what the GOP wanted, a vaccum. And only Obama could have orchestrated that debacle.

Libertarians do not support any Democrats. They can barely stand even being aligned with the Republicans. Independents are not aligned with Libertarians, as much as the author of this thread would like to conflate the two. You know why that is. It is because Libertarians are an insignificant bunch who held their national convention in a telephone booth, and then nominate a life long Republican from Georgia. Of course they try to attach their selves to Independents as a way to puff up their appearance of strength.
It is a case of a mouse claiming to be in an all powerful alliance with a bear, and strutting around proclaiming: fear us! fear us! fear us!

The sky is falling! Oh, wait. Nope. It's just rumors of yet more polls, which seem to change by the week.
I'm not worried.

On Meet The Press, noted Republican strategist Mike Murray stated, when asked about these same polls, that little stock should be taken in them until after both conventions when "things start to heat up." Reasonable observers see both the Newsweek polls as outliers: it neither a 15 lead nor a 12 or 14 point drop.
So these polls will be all over the place for a few more weeks.
But, if it floats your boat, Dee, revel away!

Obama still leads McCain among independents, though not among McCain supporters. Dee, you're a troll. I would be amazed if your brain serves any purpose other than being the thing that forgets to wipe your ass.

I think that's rude to disrespect our bottoms in that matter. They deserve better.
